Tethrd One Climbing Sticks

Im not saying these guys are guilty of trying to give the tethrd one sticks a bad wrap or cause it to brake, but if you’re name is on their website because you helped the with the design of the ION , you are affiliated. This doesn’t mean you are trying to destroy other companies if you name is on here, but to say “you aren’t affiliated” is not a true statement...View attachment 45888

I don’t know what to tell you. I bought sticks and they broke on the first time using. I don’t own any catalyst sticks. Only sticks I have are these and mini beasts.

I am not affiliated with Catalyst. I am not making a dime. I will continue to buy what I want and if it’s crap. I am gonna tell you it’s crap I don’t care who made it.

So if you’re involved in something you’re not affiliated with it ???

It’s times like these that I regret not correcting spelling, grammatical, and word choice errors.

Everyone thinks you’re a jerk until we can’t have a coherent conversation.

I do believe that one is a technical term, and one is used to describe something generally. But I could be wrong.

Look its a rabbit hole you jumped into while yelling "I'm not saying anything." So what's the point, there really is none.

Maybe this example makes some sense though. If a newspaper asks me for input as a SME (Subject Matter Expert) and I give it pro bono I am not therefore affiliated with the newspaper.

Time will only tell with these sticks. I like the sticks overall. The footroom sucks and it has a couple other issues but I had 2 steps fail as well. 1 on a stick that I stepped on twice. Ironically of all 3 sticks that I've seen its been to bottom step that has popped.

Outta curiosity, how much do you step poppers weigh? Maybe they went to high with a 300lb rating.

Sounds like they should've went with something similar to the windwalker ultralite 225lb weight limit.

is this the exact dimensions of the tethrd stick?

or is it something else?

dimensions being listed and identical would be key here, as .125” here or there apparently makes all the difference in the world for these purposes
No, not equal to the none stick.. its actually a larger step. I believe it to be what Carl called the tai fighter. It's the same or at least similiar to what Garrett used in his one stick demo.
I have built a stick with these steps 3d printed installed on 1in sq. alum tube. It's for playing around in the yard or running cameras.

got it. I guess I’m tired of reading posts that say the step real estate is plenty and posts that say step real estate is a deal breaker.

I’m sure people are left wondering, and not wanting to spend 400.00 to find out.

I would imagine if someone posted the exact dimensions of theirs, people could make a demo for 10 bucks, and know 100% if it makes sense.

DaveT posted a great YouTube video that compares the stand-off dimensions to other popular sticks including beast sticks. It’s worth a watch

Here it is:

Honestly, I didn't watch the whole thing.

But, I do think the standoff distance comparison is a bit dismissive. Who am I to say, nobody right. He's got good content.

But the thing with feet are, there's toes. And standing on toes vs. foot is a weaker position. And boots, being what hunters hunt in, effectively extend toes beyond their measurable length.

3.5" to the outer edge, the furthest possible projection, might get a bit sketchy for some. If not, that makes everything easy and bravo lets all do 3.5.

But we have standoffs approaching 5" as well...seems wasteful unless there was need and preference for that extra space. Those standoffs were not compared, however.

The standing room on the step is less than most. It’s doable though. What sucks about the step is they are angled up with a nub/point at the end that is very uncomfortable to stand on if not painful.
