This is actually the free market at work.
We are exchanging not just money but "utility". Utility encompasses every plus and minus of what you have (money, usually) and what you get for it (a platform, etc). A platform is not only the object itself but your total enjoyment of it, which for someone includes the emotional experience of buying USA made and/or from a company with ethics they appreciate. The utility of money is much simpler than the utility of a good or service.
Therefore, discussing this openly so as to adjust our views/utility is absolutely free market capitalism. Free market doesn't mean "everyone should be cool with whatever a company does so long as it is legal and they are just trying to make money".
I don't know if they do it, but if Tethrd scours this site for ideas and then uses them without a nod or money for the original mind, and then patents it, then that is legal but scummy behavior....and then to return here to fraternize, promote, and do it again. That is what you expect from Exxon or something. If I have a really good idea at some point, I won't post it here for them to patent and use. That behavior is exploiting people that are too trusting or don't have the money/time/infrastructure to patent something.
