Just an FYI, as of yesterday Camofire had 3 XL left in stock. I ordered one for my dad.

I got my Anorak & the Wind Defender Bibs today as well. My dimensions are always a bit tricky to fit. 5’7 205lbs 45in chest 33in waist and 33in sleeve. Got a Large in the hoody and Medium in the bibs. Bibs would fit perfect if I lost about 10lbs. Hoody is bulky on me mostly due to my shorter torso and arms. Boy…this combo will keep you warm. I would rock thin base layers beneath these two and feel set for late season. Bib pockets would be useless except for on thighs if I was wearing a saddle.
Hoody’s kangaroo pouch is very nice. The fabric on both feels like it could take a beating. I like that. Personally don’t think I would wear this setup if high is above freezing. This feels like I may end up taking a nap or three in it.

I got approved for a Sitka pro account so I went ahead and ordered the Fanatic jacket and bibs. Doing a battle royale for some late season clothes. I’ll provide feedback on those when received if anyone wants it.

Definitely like the King’s over the Scentlok Revenant for warmth by leaps and bounds, but I would say fit on the Revenant was slightly better for me.

Arctic shield has a hoodie as well, the heat echo. Has anyone ever tried it? I’m curious as it has a layer kinda like the Columbia Omni shield.

I can't speak to the Arctic Shield stuff but I have an everyday Columbia Omni tech coat and it impressed me. Kind of 'crinkly' but, very warm for it's thickness.

So @Wirrex after 10 pages of replies…what is keeping you from grabbing the Dakota from Sitka in your initial post? The camouflage scheme?

It’s not the color, in fact I like the camo. It’s the noisy material.

This thread really took off and after all this I still haven’t purchased anything lol. However, I do know that I am going to go the custom route. I will have a few pieces made by Grey Wolf Woolens. Custom fitted and designed garments for the same or less than sitka. They are only an hour and a half from me and I was thinking about driving up there to order in person if they allow that. I’ll get a pullover, bibs, and jacket in Wolfskin with the Comformax wind barrier only.

That’s 20 mins from where I hunt up north with buddies. Might have to pop in there and check them out next time I head up that way.

Had a chance to finally try out the XKG Anorak this morning. It was 28 degrees this morning with a 10-15 mph wind with gusts up to 20 mph. All I had on was a base layer and a thin polyester quarter zip with the anorak on top. No problems what’s so ever, I have a cabelas wooltimate top also and the xkg anorak was warmer.

Wow that’s saying something. The cabelas(not BP) Wooltimate is pretty warm

High pile fleece. I recollect it being promoted by Survivalists for against the skin use, as it wicks and creates that air gap for warmth. I can see why the Anorak is warm.

Also, it weighs 3.25lbs, so there's a fair amount of material in the coat.

Anyone own the Swazi Nahanni? Looks interesting. Not sure it would be warm enough though because it doesn't have windproof material in the arms. Trying to pick between the that and the Asbell Wool Anorak. I have no experience with wool either.

I don’t have either but That Swazi looks sweet. I love me some wool but for me it’d be no contest, windproofing ftw every time

Right. But the Swazi Nahanni is only windproof in the main body k front and back. No windproof in the arms. Wondering if it'll be enough... you know what the VA weather is like.

What time of year?

I've hunted Northern VA some, and Southern, and the Stratus jacket I've used in NY, PA, MI often fared about the same.

Outside of October, could be suspect.

But I can't help liking the garment nonetheless.

Mid to late DEC. I've got gears to get through sweltering OCT and into early DEC. Looking for a garment that I can throw over a merino base layer and be ok for 4 hours.

I'm a weird one because the Nomad Cottonwood 1/4 zip works well for me. It gets me through DEC right now with a layer or two underneath. Actually it's a darn good "hoodie" with a legit kangaroo pocket and wind blocking built in. Wait...

Nope... I'm a saddle hunter and I need new gears!

The important thing to remember is you can always sell it after the season for 40% of what you paid for it so you can get something *hopefully* better next season.

You asked me about pants....why are you in the hoody thread! :)

But to your question in your first post. I considered the Asbell hoody but everything I read said the Asbell stuff offers no wind protection at all. That was a deal breaker for me.
