I offered the sticks at 450.00 on the forum before pulling them. I got countless messages explaining to me they cost 300.00 on the company's website.

My simple reply: "are they available?"

No replies.

I set the minimum bid on ebay at 350.00 and buy it now at 455. The bid was over 500.00 in real short order.

I offered them for about 10% over list price in the ebay listing, because I'm of the impression that availability is worth SOMETHING.

Apparently, availability is worth an extra 400.00. I didn't decide that. The buyer did.

I do wish sometimes folks here would replace "you did a bad thing" with "you did a thing I don't like for some arbitrary, subjective reason."

Oh well, the big wheel keeps turnin'
I did the same thing with my backup madrock.

I'm sure we can create a used gear pricing thread, with sales history and marketing strategy, and whatever makes sense there.

The only reason Kyler's sticks are relevant here is the Gen 2 Tethrd sticks are such a bargain in comparison.

I like to include it to offer perspective whenever someone posts a new toy, and then the next three posts are complaints about the price.

But that's fair.

go on with the borophyll!

There were zero complaints about price after the new toy was posted here before you shared your ebay sale. And there was no browbeating of your sale price. Just want to stay on the topic of new gear.

Lol. That would take insight on their part. Jealousy tends to drive people to shame others as a way to make them feel better or superior.

I think it’s basic supply and demand. Right now there is adequate supply so sticks asking price will go down… when you sold yours, the supply was low to non existent which easily drove your asking price. I think it’s how capitalism is supposed to work. But what is borophyll?

I didn't mean specifically complaints about my used sticks, or tethrd's sticks. I meant the constant drum beat of why gear is getting so expensive, with zero consideration for the complainers' active role in the prices being driven up.

That's why I dropped it into this thread. It's relevant to the whole market. The goofy marketing tactics and high prices exist because they're effective. And they're effective because of us.

I watched the video before I posted my comment. They don’t explain if the glue was eliminated nor why the end cap makes the attachment more secure and more durable.

I just find it curious that the upgrade to address the primary complaint (glue disbond and an uncaptured small dia roll pin) were not front and center discussion points in the marketing video.

If they prove adequate and durable with extended use, kudos to the Tethrd team.

Before I’ll put my money on the table though, I want to see the Tethrd team put out technical marketing that explains exactly what was changed and why they are confident that it’s an adequate redesign.

And after the customer dissatisfaction with the Gen 1 version as well as the Skeletor sticks, I want at least one full season of use by others without commonplace reports of quality or durability issues.

So all the guys and gals out there who are more anxious to part with their money than me - have at it - you’ll be the Guinea pigs that guide my purchase decision down the road.
I saw Ernie post on FB that there's no glue used on these

Chemical bonding must not equal glue then as the website states the following " Our proprietary chemical bonding process combined with technology developed for the farm equipment and automotive industries allowed us to maximize strength without sacrificing weight. "

how are people liking those little climbing platforms? I can't remember the name. Surprised more versions of that haven't come out.
Barren Ridge. I'm actually liking mine, but I did have the folding support arms welded in place in lieu of the pins. They have now offered a welded version of the stand on their website.

Welded version should be clean.

Anyone considered retrofitting with the lone wolf belts and cams?

That combo seems like about as good as it gets for climbing 6-16" diameter limbless trees, or in places you can trim.

I was looking to adapt the Barren Ridge to the LW belting system, however, the arm sizing is much smaller on the Barren Ridge, so that would need replacing. I still might do it later in the summer

What size tubing are the arms made of?

I don't have the dimensions with me, I'm at work. My plan was to convert them, but when the BR arrived.....but that won't work right out of the box. I can measure tonight and post, if that would be helpful?
