New Gear for 2023, Go!

Back in the day there were people literally begging existing companies to make a saddle platform. Platform choices commonly included repurposed everyday materials including landscaping pipe and wheelchair footrests.

Now we have a whole cottage industry, dozens of choices, totally superfluous features, and whole goofball sects of tribalism within the SH community.

Back in the day was 5 years ago. Man does time fly.

In 5 years I'd venture to guess we'll be back to a handful of choices.

1k for the LWCG climber, so what does that do to the odds of the Beast climber being $1500 when it gets released in 2025:oops::tearsofjoy: and I personally think they should be required to release simultaneously for the entertainment of us forum users.

$100 says the climber never gets released. Waiting on the smaller beast stand still…

Actually doesn't a wide, solid head make for worse aerodynamics? ... Because it generates lift. If I recall correctly keeping the mass as close to center, like a field point, is better. So is higher FOC because it moves the center of pressure and center of mass?? I can't find the name of other point at the moment. I'll keep looking though.

Seems to be b.s. marketing from what little I know. Still that's. Big wide head from a reputable company

This is the argument for more FOC leading to better fight

This is exactly what I was thinking. We may need to move this conversation to another thread so as not to derail the new gear thread.

Treetop hunting mobilesnyper one sticking stick. 2 pc platform I guess you put it together when at height. I don’t even know.

It looks like the answer to a question I never thought to ask. I don't mean to pooh-pooh it, though; they're creatively solving problems they recognized, and I'm glad that creative people are putting their energy into making things better.

Without doing any more research, it looks like the problems they're trying to solve are, "too-small top platform" and "too bulky/awkward to pack". Looks like it's to be assembled at the base of the tree. Can't quite figure out what they're trying to accomplish by routing the line through the platform like that. And I'd be curious to see what, if anything, they'd do to improve the GearTie handle most of us use.

I think that 2 piece top platform might be workable, IF, somehow you could use the disconnected portion of the platform as an aider while it hangs below the bottom step. It should give a sturdier step and would also solve the "miniscule" issue of having your aider dangling or blowing around once you're at hunting height? They'd have to go back to the drawing board and redesign some stuff but I think it's doable?

I was thinking folding sections. Fold the moving portion back over the platform - maybe rotate them once flipped, to give enough clearance for the trunk? The flip them down once in position. No way to drop anything.

I hear a company is bringing out the ultimate hunting platform for 2026. Cheap at a $100k predicted price. I wonder if the company is Tethrd? Or someone else?

The stealth wrap will cost a bit though. :tearsofjoy:

The white paint blends in well with the snow. I wonder if it comes with optional spinning wheels and a lift kit? Would like to make sure the end of the boom is JX3 compatible so it’s acceptable to that faction of the SH cult.

who wants to assemble their platform at height??? Absolutely no one!!!

I never said this is an optimal solution, or even a workable solution. Merely pointing out, contrary to all the piling on, that the design attempts to address some things that aren't maybe so ridiculous as being made out.

Frankly, I don't even know the specifics of assembling this thing, so I can't offer an informed response. And I don't want to speak for others. But, from what I'm seeing, the first step to connecting the two platform sections really doesn't look very difficult...Slide keyholes over bolts. At that point are you hands free to tackle step 2, idk?

I think the big issue may be how the platform performs. As in...Will the connected platform be secure, and will the entire assembly (with presumably a dimensionally deeper platform than the competition) hold steady and be silent throughout each hunt?

I'm a bit dubious, but were it to ace that, it might be worth the incurred few minutes of assembly for those who prefer more footspace. Imo.

But then, what does it weigh, and how does it functionally compare to a two step stick and separate platform?
