New Gear for 2023, Go!

Response I received when I asked about the seat. " The Crossover will come equipped with an adjustable webbing-style seat and optional flip-up padded cushion that can be used with the webbing or left behind for reduced weight and profile. (photos coming soon). The Webbing seat attaches to the top arch platform. It's adjustable for height and retracts towards the tree when standing, It also has an optional flip up pad. We will be releasing more photos of this when we officially launch the product to the public. We wanted to give our preferred customers a first shot and look at it before releasing it to the public. "

That’s slick! But more than I expected

God I hate the number 9. I understand decades of marketing research show that people minds tell them things are cheaper the lower the denominator are, but my mind is trained to hate prices like that. Its like they think that the 1 cent would be the deciding factor to purchasing a $1000 stand or a $999.99 stand.....

O
I spend stupid money on hunting crap. But $1,000 on a treestand is way more than my dumbass is willing to spend. It’s also tiny….24x16.5… and they missed the mark on the weight.
You are right, its crazy high, but what is a new bow with a sight and rest cost now, way more than a 1000. How much is a high end hang on with high end sticks? Right up there with it. I can remember when I bought my 1st Summit in the 90's for 200ish. Those days are long gone. Its just money, Biden prints it everyday. :)

So complain about saving a penny? lol.

So, preferred customers don't rate as complete a launch as the general public, lol. That sounds silly.

Thanks for sharing though. I was wondering what the deal was.

Of course a couple pounds lighter would be nice, but...

If it comes in at 11.5 lbs (and it does appear LWCG is doing better with listed weights now), it will probably feel lighter than your .5 and ONE sticks, due to it's pack flat profile putting the weight closer to your back.

And while I agree it's a small for normal treestand use, at about the same dimension as a .5, it won't be bulky to haul around, which is a plus. Probably a good hybrid option of a climbing design.

250lb weight rating is a downer.

Double the weight but same size as the .5. Twice as high and wont go around a single limb.

It's a superior platform for hybrid hunting over the .5. The platform is wider towards the tree, and there isn't any cable restriction there.

As for weight, it's a platform and climbing system. For anyone using sticks, their system likely weighs almost double the 6lbs of .5 anyway, when you take them into account.

I have a 10lb 3oz climbing platform with 22" x 17" usable space. I choose it over my .5 and sticks, etc. for one place I hunt. I'll get around a few limbs with it if needed. I've always done that with my Sit and Climb too. I don't recommend that, but I do it. Sky is the limit there, and it's one place I prefer to climb high.

It would be a great climber for long hikes with its ability to fold really flat and its light weight. It is pricey but not completely out of range as long as a person uses it often enough to justify the cost. It won't be worth it if a person only uses it a few times a year. Climbers are a nice option for recon hunting and for those places you only hunt once or twice a year.

Agreed.

Except I've hunted places where you could climber just about every tree, in which case it looks to be a fantastic everyday tool. (Of course, I've hunted places where a climber would be suboptimal in about every tree in which case it would be..storage). Just depends on the individuals hunting situation, if it makes sense or not.

I'd buy it if I got use out of it. I payed attention this past scouting season to my locations to see if I had trees a climber could get in. And the answer is almost always no.
Climbing stands - or, more specifically, my frustrations with them - are what got me interested in saddle hunting. These look nice for what they are; what they are is what I don't want anymore.

Absolutely not saying it wont function well. No one build better gear really. I am saying that on no planet is it worth the price tag they put on it. Doesnt matter a lick what I think because they will likely sell all they can make because a certain amount of folks just have to buy the latest/greatest and some are just fanboi enough to buy whatever they make. As stupid as that price is, they still havent hit Bishop levels comparatively speaking lol.

I hunt in rugged and steep terrain and carrying a heavy bulky climber is not practical, especially since I have gotten older. I have also switched to a saddle as a primary method. But I do like the ease and versatility of a climber but think the saddle is a better option for me and the terrain I hunt.

This Lone Wolf is one of the better climber options and the platform would also double as a nice saddle hunting platform so it has my interest. I don't have any real interest in buying one since the price is so high but making one is always an option for me since I have a CNC machine.

If the climber was a 29" platform, I'd probably end up getting one but that 24" platform is a no-go for me. I had picked up one of those $500 gift cards just to use on this climber too. What a bummer!
