Can you draw an area on a map, and color code it like you can with HuntStand? There's only the default brown option on the free version, but didn't know if in the paid, there was an option for different color shading.

Doesn’t appear so, but I’m obviously still in the trial period so may change, may not. I would suspect the trial to be the same though.

Me personally, I don’t like the shading on the area so I don’t care about being able to change the colors of the shading. That is one reason I prefer the distance method, plus the distance method gives me distances and I’m a surveyor so distances make me happy.

The color coding area is an issue for me and the reason I still use onx for farm management/planning purposes. I expect they will allow shape colors in the future

I upgraded my OnX to the Elite yesterday but the more I’ve played with this and read through y’alls threads about it the last few days the more I’ve liked about it. There’s room for improvement for sure but I get the vibe the folks who run the company know that and are deer hunters who want to get it right. I upgraded to a paid membership now, I’ll run this and OnX for a year and see what’s best for me. $40 is a steal for what they are doing and if it helps them grow so be it. As much E-scouting as I’m forced/get to do it sure won’t hurt to have another tool in the toolbox anyway.

My favorite public spot before SF AI, can’t wait until it kicks in! All these REI DIY saddle hunters are getting to me.

This conversation makes me feel like a cynical old man (which I’m neither).

Using collard Deer data is precisely what I’m worried about. Hunting doesn’t need any more easy buttons. When you put all these technologies together you remove the need for skill. If people want an easier go at hunting then they can head to a region with an excessive deer population - at least that way they are learning and helping to keep a healthy herd.

Once the software exists to predict deer
Movement based on collared deer data, the apps will absolutely be incentivized to mine user data to refine the accuracy of software.

I hope the next generation of hunters will be more skillful and effective than we are, but not because Siri told them where to go and how to get there.

I agree. I think trail cams make some lazy. Woodsmanship is a dying art. And we won't go into using drones for scouting purposes.

I like it so far. Like it a lot, actually, but I would really love to see the view scale range for topo opened up some. As it is in my main areas by the time the topo displays I’m zoomed in so far I can’t see the big picture. I wind up getting that info from my work layers and transferring the waypoints I want to look at onto SF.

It’s on iPhones now. This app is next level… I still like my HuntStand map images better though. They’re just clearer.
