Statistically it’s ladder stands, in my state. A majority of incidents are folks who fell asleep in the seat and dropped to the ground.

Perhaps ladder stands need leg straps.

Now I’m picturing a feller walking out into the woods with a 4’ section of ladder stand strapped to his back side knocking into everything on his way to catch deers.

Well… that’s not a very good statistic.

Most people use ladder stand or sticks.

You would need percentages to get a more accurate representation. Number of incidents using a climbing method/Number of users using that climbing method and that’s still not gonna be accurate. Number of climbs needs to be taken into account.

Are you a politician? Cuz that’s the kinda of manipulated statistics they use.

Admittedly I have saddlehunted above a ladder stand.

Just admit it
..polititions avoid the answer babbling circles about how they are scared of the stats

My opinion is climbing stands done right are safer than sticks. JRB and the NY guys have my attention, going to give rope methods a try next year. I do wonder if a cobra weave all around the top of my One sticks make them opening up my inner thigh or other soft tissue a little less likely.

Of course sticks will have the highest number of injuries based on the fact it is the highest utilized method for climbing on this forum.

Maybe if we banned sticks and made everyone 2TC and use leg straps, we would see an improvement.

2TC for life. I’m starting www.2TC.com. @Red Beard will be the mod. Who’s with me?

I typed this in the wrong thread initially…the most dangerous part about when I’m climbing with sticks, aside from everything, is the double steps IMO. I like a single alternating step. I have only had issues on double steps. sack tapped myself on double steps more than once. Caught my bridge or ropes on the side I didn’t want to stand on. Put undue pressure on my LB hitch. Hit my knee and slipped. Yanked on a step instead of the adjusting the post and had the stick slide or tilt. Almost none of that has happened using a single step for me. Any double step sticks I own are cheap ones for presets, which is probably the MOST dangerous way to use sticks anyway. So maybe I’m not as bright as I think I am by climbing those. I’ve started replacing all preset sticks with screw in steps as long as I don’t screw UP the area.
My leg buckles already make hella noise.

I know it’s a classic saddle hunting topic…everything else is dangerous except saddles. The reality is, we aren’t immune to human error or the laws of gravity. By far the most dangerous part of the hunt is going up or coming down regardless of the method. According to this, 99% of tree stand accidents are the result of not being tied in. No need to throw rocks at other hunting methods. Throw rocks at the ding dongs who still aren’t tied in from the ground up :D https://treestandsafetyawarenessfounda.godaddysites.com/resources

I have to admit, I used to feel like this when I was hauling around my summit climber. That's probably the single biggest reason I started exploring saddle hunting. Can't say as I ever see myself going back.

Not even for the LWCG climber? I can see a lot of fellow saddle hunters getting it (even with the price tag). I would honestly consider using a Lone Wolf climber bottom for the right price.
