Thanks for the help all, rock n arbor shows out of stock for trc but a phone call indicated they had a small quantity available that suits my needs.

    6mm TRC substitute

My intended use is that I got a new rappel/tether rope for one sticking. It is 8mm resc tech. I plan to use a double michoacan as my friction hitches to keep on the rope, I descend via a fig 8 or super munter on a biner below the double michoacan. The recommended cord for friction hitches seems...

    6mm TRC substitute

I have been using Samson predator for a rappel rope with a double michoacan for the past 2 years and finally bought a new rope and downsized to rescue tech. Sterling 6mm trc seems to be hard to get. Any experience with other cords that are recommended that you have experience with?

New here, curious about what I should be looking for in a rope.

Buy yourself a tether, linemans belt and a set of sticks. Without having a handson mentor, you have a tremendous learning curve ahead of you to rope climb and hunt safely and efficiently in a month let alone 2 days.

Ditch the Prusik; the "Double Meech" is so smooth, it's an SRT device

John, As I primarily one stick climb and rarely hunt out of the same tree rope climbing will probably never be my primary method. With that said, I recognize the importance of having multiple ways to climb. I think I will try the double meech setup as my primary tether hitch and this will take...

Ditch the Prusik; the "Double Meech" is so smooth, it's an SRT device

I dont think it doubles the strength of the rope, but it spreads the forces of your weight over both knots so basically cutting the forces in half.

    The JRB Climbing Method

The garda would still be holding both ropes, at least from what I have seen. To me that is what is most appealing about this climbing method. I am just unsure of diving into this close to hunting season.

Saddle hunting in ice and rain

Yep, I learned the munter hitch before ever climbomg to height with the figure 8. In the event your your rope gets wet, lets say an all day rain. How critical is it to dry before the next use or to prolong its useful life? I know some ropes are more hydrophobic than others but are there any...

Saddle hunting in ice and rain

I have been practicing one stick climbing and rappelling as this will be my first season using this setup. I am using predator line for tether, I have an 8mm sewn eye that I have been using a few different friction hitches and then rappelling with a figure 8. My question is how well do the...

    Ultimate One stick

I tried the up at a saddle meet-up in pa last weekend. If I didn't already have an ultimate one stick setup with an angled scout and double step on the backside of the stick I would be ordering one. The catalyst was there as well, but I really like dano's setup.

    Tethrd One Climbing Sticks

It's barely noticeable now until that slight wobble rounds out the hole in the titanium... idk I would much rather trust my life to a bolted on step than a rollpin and deal with the few extra ounces.

    Tethrd One Climbing Sticks

The issue with the chemical weld failing comes down to long term durability. You are then trusting your life on a roll pin through thin metal tubing that is subject to being on a loose stick. Anyone with some mechanical experience has probably seen what happens when a roll pin wiggles around...

    Tethrd One Climbing Sticks

I got my hands on a set of these yesterday at a saddle meet-up. They are impressively light. The bonding issue and standing on a rollpin really makes me question durability. I'd much rather carry a few ounces and have a bolt or somehardware.
