    Knaider/Swaider with Beast Sticks?

I hadn't thought of doing that. Would it be any different than if you ran your swaider that same distance longer and hooked right to the step? Coming down in the dark I'd prefer to hook to something solid (less fishing), but I don't think that rises to a safety level of concern at all.

    Amsteel Question regarding stick mod.

I think, but do not know, that you're looking to make a continuous loop out of your amsteel, and that becomes your prussic.

Is the Camo really not for the deer.

To the OPs point...I think it's complicated. Deer and squirrels have different predators, so squirrels are unreliable in communicating predation risk to deer (sometimes its a coyote, sometimes it's a hawk). Blue Jays are the sentries of the forest, so everything gets an alarm call. Ditto the...

Whose rockin the wild edge steps this year

Like a moth to the flame, man. That sounds good - might have to give it a try! I was thinking about getting a longer rope for at least the bottom stepp after running into some trees I couldn't climb...seems like an amsteel order from ewo is in my future. Again

Whose rockin the wild edge steps this year

I always wondered about that. Isn't the rope stretch (on pre-stretched ropes) necessary to get a good cam over? I don't quite get the physics involved in using amsteel instead if the stock ropes. Do the stepps bend then snap back as you cam over with amsteel? I guess I assumed the stock ropes...

FT: small nose button for some castration bands - Traded PLEASE CLOSE

Aside from acts of liberation (thanks PEEJAY :tearsofjoy:), these are the thick rubber bands used to keep rope or webbing loops closed, like on a girth-hitched tether to keep it from releasing or on a knaider/swaider to keep the foot loop from opening and dropping off your foot.

FT: small nose button for some castration bands - Traded PLEASE CLOSE

I picked up a bowmar nose button a while back, and am sticking with the larger one. That leaves me with a small (red color) nose button that I don't need. Anyone want to trade for 5-6 castration bands?

    No Sticking Thread

Yeah. Thats where I wanted it to go originally, because I do think there's enough space. That would solve any safety concerns I think. But I assumed (did not try or test) that the angles involved would make the scout cant harder because the attachment points would get pretty asymmetrical. Might...

Oh, man, that would be cool! You chop yours down first . The "once it's gone" thing will keep me from trying it I think, coupled with my no metal-working skills. One thing I wondered about as I was thinking of cam cleat placement is where I put my feet. I think if it was near the...

If it was safe, which it may not be, the benefit over a stick is size. It's a compact package that sets solid at hunting height. The benefit over a stepp is ease of setting on the way up. I just really like how the cam cleat reduces fiddle factor on the way up.

    D Loop Replacement

I had fraying in hundreds of shots, not thousands, and used 00 steel wool (local hardware store had like 6 grades) to polish my release hook. It's been better since. I don't know what best-case d-loop wear is, but a little polishing probably couldn't hurt after you replace?

    No Sticking Thread

Your spidey sense is probably right. I appreciate the feedback. It wants to cant during the set, but you can get it to set level, to the point where standing on it feels like normal. I think it's the crazy contact points on the scout. If there was enough real estate for another couple of bolts...

    No Sticking Thread

The bolts holding the t-bar are 1/4" grade 8 (I originally posted grade 5 and edited), like we use on sticks etc. That being said, I won't defend my actions as a great idea...just something I wanted to try. Man, if I could get a purpose-built scout where the cam cleat had an appropriate surface...

    No Sticking Thread

To revive the no sticking thread - here's what I've been messing with. I added a cam cleat to my solo scout using a cut down 2" t-bar of 6061 aluminum, which I cut to fit right between the attachment post welds. I thought the t on the back would provide some added torsion resistance. I sanded it...

Where do you keep your phone?

My jacket has a chest pocket, and that's where it goes so I can get it with little movement.. But, I also get the moisture issue there. I'd put it somewhere else, but then I'd have to commune with nature? I think not.
