Heck, at my age I don't even shave my face anymore let alone my head.
I have had the discussion with the wife trying to prepare her for the inevitable day I start clipping the top of my head too. To say she's been unimpressed with the idea would be an understatement . . . wait, is that an incentive or what?
I haven't seen the skin under my beard in almost 6 years lol. I can't go without a beard. I've had some sort of facial hair since my 20s, usually a short kept beard, but the last 6 months or so I've been letting it get longer and longer.
I don't miss hair on my head though. It's nice to just get out of the shower and just pat it dry and be done with it. No fussing with scrubbing it dry, fixing it for work, sweating, paying for haircuts, etc. I used to have very thick, nice hair until my early 30s. Then the hairline started receeding, and the bald spot started forming at my crown, and everything on top got super thin.
I said a big NOPE to that nonsense and took the clippers and then a razor to it. Havent looked back since. I like the feel of it, the look, and ease of maintenance. Wife digs it too, after the initial shock wore off lol.

I shave my head and face twice a week. In the shower, no mirror, just feel. It took some time to get use to. I order Harrys razors and usally use the wife conditioner. I spoil myself with slapping on some Aloe after the shave. My adult boys dont remeber what i look like with hair, and laugh at old pictures.
When I was bothering to shave (and when I still do for required occasions) that's my method to. Shaving the in shower once my face was warm and wet just made more sense. I don't need a mirror either, after 45 years of shaving I know where my face is.
Been using unguarded clippers for 20 years or so at this point. Face and head get a once over about every 5-7 days.
Wow, I have a really high widow's peak but it stop bothering me once I got married. I let my hair grow out because the kids like it, else I shave like I did every week for 9 years in the military.
But my poor idiot of a brother. He was 17, shaved his head and then went to the beach for a day of fun with his friends. Never bother to put any protection on, basically cauterized most of the hair pores with a combo of Los Angeles's sun and sea water.......
His head is as thin as my leg hairs now.

My wife loves hair but I don’t have very much of it anymore. She didn’t want me to start buzzing my head but I started with a #2 guard, then went to an #1 extended after a few weeks, now I’m at a #1. She’s basically quite complaining so the unguarded clippers are next.
This is what I use in the shower along with suave conditioner, every couple of days (when it starts to get grabby). Ive been doing it this way for almost 20 years. Dry off, use some moisturizer and sunscreen, get on with the day.
The Love of My Life had never seen hair on my head and asked to let it grow out. That lasted about 6 weeks before she said it makes you look really old (it's white not gray or silver, but white), shave it.

I buzz over my head every other day with this. Never have any issues with ingrown. Almost as slick as a razor too.

I've shaved my head for about 10 years. This if used daily is easiest. Just a couple times around the dome and done. My 5 year old likes to shave my head so I let him with this.

If you skip a day fine, a few days and you have to buzz it or shave.
I find ingrowns occur when I stop shaving for a few days. They stop after a couple days for me.
My other suggestion is to use a good shave cream in a bowl with a boars hair brush. Get your head warm first, sometime I do this in the shower and other times over a sink. Any decent razor will work for this. I think am using Harry's now.

I wet shave my head once a week. I use dollar shave club razors and their shave butter. Works pretty well and isn't too expensive. If I let it go too much longer than a week, I need to knock the hair down with some clippers before wet shaving.
I've never had issues with ingrown hairs, but I have on occasion cut off about a dime size portion of the top layer of my scalp. Not too many other issues though. I have to wear hats outside year round though. If you have a leather recliner or anything though, I found that the oil from your scalp can damage the leather over time.
It's funny, I used to have really long hair decades ago and I just went to the other extreme.

I started Bic'in my head at 19, back in '94. I'm biracial, and was sick of constantly having to go to get it cut to keep it 'tight'. Plus, wanted to be "like Mike". Never had a problem with ingrowns on my head... but my neck and jaw were awful with bumps with a razor.
Decided in my late 20s to grow out my fro for a few years. No sign of inability to regrow, thick as ever. Went back to a fade the rest of the decade.

Rocked the Fro-over (pretty sure I coined that term, lol!) for a while, then decided to just start clipping w/ #2 attachment. Through my 40s top has thinned out quite a bit. My head doesn't mind the razor so much. My neck though, razor bump city. It's Terrible. I finally gave up on razors for my neck and got a really good electric that is about as close to a razor shave as I've ever found. It's a Braun series 7 with the cleaning station. Ive tried foil shavers, the kind with the rotating foils, etc and this thing blows them all away. The best "shave" I've had with an electric, and no bumps.

So I guess I'm hearing that electric razors are better for preventing bumps than blades directly on the skin?
That's been my experience at least on my neck. I can use a razor on my head no problem though.

Hair type might have a lot to do with it. My hair doesn't come out straight... wants to curl as soon as it leaves the skin, sometimes before. Once I busted open a bump, and had a 3" hair curled up under the skin!
I have tried electric razors in the past, perhaps the one @Black Titan recommends may do better, but had the same results with the ones I tried.
Don't even get me started on the "Black Magic" my one boy recommended... that stuff ripped half my skin off!
