That might work if you have a really flexible boot on.

Yeah that’s true. Most crampons I’m seeing have the studs right underfoot not in the front of the shoeSomething like this but where the spikes are on the tip or front of the boot not under it. Maybe have a row just under the toes.

Exactly. just a toe cap easily strapped on and easily removed.I wouldn’t want any sharp spikes or studs in the bottom that could cut my rope or make it difficult to stand on a platform. Just a studded toe cap.

You just want it for increased friction@gcr0003 Ive been trying to brainstorm on an idea you mentioned a while back. Maybe modding a crampon with more underfoot structure by removing the studs and somehow installing a bolt straight out in front of the toes. But I doubt this plastic/rubber material is strong enough to take the kind of supportive stress.

Meaning just additional surface contact and not actually having a piece of hardware bite into the tree? You just want it for increased friction
just something other than rubber which is slippery when wet between your boot and the tree. Could be studs. In your cold weather condition studs may serve dual purpose.Meaning just additional surface contact and not actually having a piece of hardware bite into the tree?
True crampons like mountaineers will wear often have a set facing forward. Ice Climbers, a very interesting lot in their own regard, wear crampons that have spikes facing forward as well.Yeah that’s true. Most crampons I’m seeing have the studs right underfoot not in the front of the shoe
Thanks, that’s helpful. The more I think about frozen trees I feel like it could just be a business for staying on the ground unless you rope climb.I’ve climbed plenty of wet trees 2TC. I just take it a little slower. Never tried climbing frozen wet trees though.
Any reason why you guys can't keep it this simple?

I just ordered one, but have my doubts on this weight capacity claim on this thin plastic.

I thought I was on a spending bender. I’m starting to think the mods need to ban us. LOL.
A plated aider on a climbing stick? That’s still one sticking imo.Any reason why you guys can't keep it this simple?

Can’t wait to hear the results. I’m curious about putting 2 feet in it instead of the leg wrap. I remember seeing one of the actual hunting companies selling these, but I don’t remember which one.I just ordered one, but have my doubts on this weight capacity claim on this thin plastic.
