Cheap Stuff that Gets the Job Done

I I only had luck getting my size buying them via online Walmart.com

    Carry backpack or pull up?

I have my stand lashed on my pack; when I get ready to climb I transfer it to a loop on the back of my saddle using a nite ize gear tie - keeping it short so it doesn't swing & bang into one of my sticks. Climb to my stand height location, remove the stand from my saddle and temporarily lash it...

    Relocating to the OKC area

I will be looking at public land so some driving I am sure - probably between OKC & Tulsa.

    Relocating to the OKC area

Making the big move next month to Edmond, OK! It will be a big change from the Pacific NW. A lot to learn but looking forward to it,

    Alternative Method for Platform Attachment

I will need to test this out. Only concern I have is if I catch my toe on my Ridge Runner as I transition - wondering if it will disengage and drop to the ground; better the stand than me though!

    What did you do today?

Ordered some accessory cord to replace the stock straps on my Hawk sticks, an Amsteel daisy chain for the RR, and picked up a pack of castrate bands from tractor supply. Pack of 100 - if anyone needs some let me know.

1st Climb with HH Sticks & New H2 Saddle

Oh, yes I did keep the linemans rope on before unclipping as I loaded the tether. Just felt a bit odd purposely leaning out. Kind of like the 1st time hooking on to the trapeze wire on a Hobie!

1st Climb with HH Sticks & New H2 Saddle

Got my social distancing in today and maiden voyage of using HH Sticks, H2 saddle, & Ridge runner in an area I have been scouting. Lots of evidence of elk. Definitely will need to get 8-10 mock climbs in to get the hang of the process but definitely felt secure once getting the tether in place...

    Dump pouches

Timely Post as I did chat with DanO this past week. He was very responsive. I have an H2 and don't think the quick attach will work well because the molle loops are not flat (gaps open) but do not know for certain. Snap attach will definitely work but may flop around more. Maybe someone on forum...

To those that have bought the Triad bridge from H2

The Triad Bridge is safe. Just people stating opinions and preferences. It sounds like some folks don't like the feel of the rope used with the Triad. Worst case, mod the bridge with your preferred material. The triad bridge is $25 - not a big expense if it's something you decide that it's not...

New to site and looking to be new to saddle hunting.

Welcome from WA. It's been 25-years since being up in a tree and so I am starting over & entering my rookie season of using a saddle. Just waiting on my H2 to get the practice in before Sept!

    WESTERN HUNTING

Past hunting (mind you this is years ago in WI) was from a traditional stand. I am just getting back to it before the years sneak up on me. Only deer for me. Being elevated may give you better opportunity or at least a vantage point as ground level brush is a concern of mine. I may saddle...

    Calling myself officially new

Thanks for the info on sizing. I had posed the question to Heath as I run a normal 32" which is right in between sizing. I don't plan on getting much bigger so will order the small and new bridge as I like the concept & for $15 seems reasonable.

    Calling myself officially new

Welcome to being official. I have been monitoring the site as well - getting lots of good info. Planning on the H2 as well but have not ordered just yet but see that he has a new bridge option that looks intriguing. Hope it works out well.

    WESTERN HUNTING

I am a planning on getting back to some deer hunting after a long break (WI native, moved to NW back in '90) and planning on the investment of an H2 saddle. Purchased my sticks last month and will be adding necessities soon. Did some scouting a few weeks ago on DNR land when we had some snow...

    Saddlehunter.com Member Map - New & Improved!

I had brief chat with like.2.fly about same thing as he introduced me to the map (just joined this week). We have a ton of trees here in PNW with mostly evergreens. I have been away from hunting for a long time but getting back into it and will implement sticks & saddle.

    New saddle hunter from WA

I didn't realize there was a map that showed registered users. Rather surprised by the low numbers out West!
