    Let’s talk Platforms

All I have experience with is the Treehopper Tree Suit and the Mission. I really like the Treehopper and the way it's sort of triangle shaped and not square, but I really have no room to stand. Last year I hunted all day until 230 pm in a tree that was just slightly leaning back towards me. I...

    What’s the Hottest?

I can't say enough good things about the Overwatch Transformer. It's a masterful display of attention to detail. I thought about buying a second saddle from another manufacturer just to have, but when I compared the stitching and detail work it was no contest. You won't find a crooked stitch, or...

    Best 2 panel saddle

Another vote for Overwatch Transformer. Can I vote more than once? It's really good. If I were to want another I would try a Buzzards Roost.

    Platform and Sticks Compact Packing

Took me a while and lots of experimentation, but I've finally nailed my system and packing. Trophyline Mission (I'm a bigger guy and like to stand some), 4 beast sticks stealth stripped, 2 - 5/16" J-hooks and hand knobs. I've covered the J-hooks with heat shrink and added stealth strips in the...

Trial and Error, until it Works

Same here. I really like the Versastrap daisy chain, and I like the Treehopper platform. Wanted a one-stick, but didn't want a platform on it. Ended up buy the OOL Shikar mini. Leaving it with just the bottom step. No top platform to have to reach around. I will get about 12-15" less or so per...

What will you change/improve for next year?

Take time to really learn my oaks- by bark, leaf, acorn, when they drop, etc. 2022 will be my first year saddle hunting, thanks JCLINE84! I will have new sticks, but want to see what comes out between now and summer.

    Horn Hunter G3

At first I didnt like it. Seemed too big and too many buckles and straps. With nothing between the frame and pack, say like meat, it was loose. But now instead of buckling it to the Full Curl Lite frame I just use the straps to go around it and cinch it down tight. I built a gear hanger out of...

    Cruzr climbing sticks

Louisiana Bowhunter Podcast just did an episode with Chad from Cruzr. Towards the end he talks about upcoming products like a gear hanger, dump pouch etc. But one intriguing thing is they have some climbing sticks coming out. The way he explains it is they are partnering with another company...

    Horn Hunter G3

Nice setup. I have the Horn Hunter Full Curl Lite with G3 pack. It’s pretty sweet. I was trying to use it treestand hunting and it was just too loaded down. Didn’t feel as good. Since I lightened the load and going to 90% saddle it is a fantastic setup

Jumping into a Saddle - South Louisiana

Yea I figured that. I have some buddies that take off the last 3 weeks of December and hunt Sicily. They kill nice rack bucks every year. I have an invite from them, just show up and they will point me to the tree. Every year I say I'm going to chase the rut around the state. I'm getting...

Jumping into a Saddle - South Louisiana

Thanks man, that sounds good. I've visited, hunted, scouted a lot of La public lands. Sicily Island (JC Sonny Gilbert) Richard K Yancey (Three Rivers) Buckhorn Tensas Cat Island Maurepas Joyce Tunica Cat Island Bayou Pierre Red River refuge Big Branch Marsh Dewey Wills Bodcau Jackson...

Jumping into a Saddle - South Louisiana

I was born and raised in St. Amant so I know exactly. I hunt Maurepas but sort of hate it. Hunted Bodcau for about 12-15 years, used to hunt Jackson-Bienville until it closed and became private. Mostly hunt Kisatchie now, with a little Tunica and Cat Island.

Jumping into a Saddle - South Louisiana

Been fighting the urge for years, finally broke. I hunt strictly public lands, in and out. Rarely hunt the same spot two days in a row. Dragging these hang-on's around for about 10 years now. I'm ready to lose the weight, bulk, and limiting factors of the hang on. I've been doing everything that...
