    Virginia group chat/possible meet up?

Hunted Fairystone last year using boat to get to hard to reach places. Ended the week with nice doe but did not find the bucks. Scouted it some more this spring but did not find good sign. Been hunting the Blue Ridge but looking for different opportunities.

    Virginia group chat/possible meet up?

It looked like and interesting area with all the edge but all the roads was a concern. You answered my question. Thanks

    New guy Aider Options

This was my first year hunting from a saddle but I had been using sticks to hang a lightweight stand in years past. I was reluctant to try aiders because of the safety factor especially as I hunt alone most of the time. This year in search of weight reduction I did add one step aiders to my...

    pull-up rope

I do like the idea of switching from my 550 cord over to 6mm accessory cord for it's multi-use capabilities. I'll have to give it a try. Thanks

    First year reflections

That little encounter with the bear made my whole season. I love the different situations that you find in quite times in the woods. Light and effective is so much better than trying to manage heavy equipment. I'm not saying our age limits our ability but rather it makes us smarter so we...

    First year reflections

It is great exercise which in turn helps me focus on staying in shape in the off season as well. I hunt public land in the Blue Ridge mountains mostly which adds to the challenge. I have not yet tried the repel method. I climb up and back down very deliberately just as I practice. I do like...

    First year reflections

Fall of 2022 was my first season hunting from a saddle. Greatly appreciate the info offered from so many on this and other saddle hunting forums. As many have mentioned practice is critical to being safe and comfortable. I'm using a latitude method 2 saddle and three Hawk Helium sticks with...

    pull-up rope

My setup is predator platform with three 20 inch sticks with aiders. Platform in pack and sticks attached to pack for walk in. Climb with pack on and platform in pack. Pull up rope attached to bow on ground. Last thing after setup is to pull bow up. Reverse everything on way down. I'm...

    pull-up rope

Thanks. I'm using 550 cord that packs well but if I'm not careful with it it can get tangled in the sticks.

    pull-up rope

2022 was my first year saddle hunting and I loved it. Also added a boat to get to those hard to reach places. I'm interested to find out if most everyone is climbing with bow attached to pull-up rope attached to belt or some other method of retrieving the bow. I'm currently using three...

    Crooked trees

Thanks for that feedback/advice. I have backed out of a couple trees I thought were the perfect location because I just could not get the helium's standoffs to make more than two points. I learned early on an old Hickory tree that some trees are best left alone. I'll check out the other sticks...

    Crooked trees

New member and new to saddle hunting I have a question on attaching sticks to crooked trees. I have two step hawk heilum sticks. Are there any tips or tricks to use when the tree has twists or turns that dont allow for four points of contact with the stick standoffs?

    New from VA

Hello, I have been using hang on stands but last year I decided to switch over to saddle hunting to reduce weight. I have a lattitude saddle with hawk sticks. I'm located in Amherst county VA. Appreciate the info I have been able to gain from this forum.
