Amsteel or rope for rope mod?

I am in Texas and all the trees down here have pretty rough bark. Just looks like the bark will shred the Amsteel pretty quick. I’m not sure. I have never messed with the stuff

Amsteel or rope for rope mod?

So I got the cam cleat installed today. Had a short piece of static rope. Girth hitched it around the stick took it outside to try it. It grabbed good. I used the Schaefer’s 500 pound cam cleat.

    New saddle hunter. North Texas

Shoot man I am glad someone from Texas spoke up. I just got into saddle hunting due to hunting or public land down around lake Whitney. Trying to learn as much as I can from everyone that is willing to teach. I can already tell by the other threads that everyone here is willing to learn people a...

What rope would you recommend for this. You said thin rope with dyneema core. Just want to make sure I get what will work since I am a heavy guy. I have been using the daisy chains Versa strap that came with my hawk stick.

I am a big guy so I went with the Schaefer’s fast entry 500 pound cam clear. It was $34. Just have never messed with Amsteel. I have no idea where to get it or anything. I have heard of people using it to make the bridge but that is all I know really. So if you know where I can get some please...

    DIY Prusik Tender

I see the point of not wanting metal. As far as heavy they are really small shackles and don’t weigh much at all. My plan is to put shrink tubing around the bow of the shackle also I just didn’t have any that size at home. I appreciate everyone’s input on this idea. Glad this place isn’t like...

    DIY Prusik Tender

I also saw this idea in @phatkaw’s video. Rubber washer on your tree tether to keep it from falling when not under tension. Picked this up at lowes for like $2

    DIY Prusik Tender

Yeah I don’t think you would be able to swap it to different stuff if you need to. But I am not sure. I know they are heavier than the plastic ones but man they are slick and slide really good.

    DIY Prusik Tender

Yes sir. That is exactly how it would go. I liked how they weren’t plastic so I didn’t have to worry about the plastic getting brittle in the cold or over time. Paracord is cheap so really only investment is the stainless shackle. I think they were $4 each at my local lowes. Also liked the fact...

    DIY Prusik Tender

I know this has been done and done again but I was at Lowe’s today and figured since I was there I would look for stuff to make a couple tenders out of. 3/16 stainless anchor shackle 550 cord 1/4” shrink tubing I made them this afternoon and tried them out while practicing in the front yard...
