    High Temps

I have had very good luck over the years late Oct-early Nov during warm periods on morning hunts if raining or just finished up raining. Monday I tagged a 230 lb 13 point at 11 AM after a good soaking, it was 65 degrees on public land no less. He was browsing in thick cover. I saw 3 does...

Who would you rather hunt with?? Infalt or Eberhart? Just curious!

Both have great knowledge, however John has really revolutionized bow hunting with both saddle and Scentlok use. He leaves no stone unturned, if he thinks something will make him a better hunter. I bet there are many stories of things tried, resulting in utter failures, like all of us. Many...

    Hunting near hiking trails

Hiking trails can be a great spot. Look for an area where the deer trail parallels the hiking trail and where deer cross the hiking trail, depending on the cover available is how far off the trail to hunt. I have had does bed down under me at 150 yards from the trail during rifle season...

    game cart recommendations?

I have one very close to that, it works great even on side hills. Just be careful going over logs one wheel at a time, it can get tippy. Two things to always carry, a small ratchet strap to secure deer tight so it does not shift and carry plenty of zip ties in case one of the clips comes off...

    SE Ohio

During rut and shotgun there is a ton of people. Anytime outside that, few hunters, esp during muzzleloader. Low deer density as in most of Ohio so you won't see a lot of deer. Egypt Valley is absolutely a huge wildlife area 18,000 acres. Lots of autumn olive, multiflora rose, very thick...

    Wasteful hunters

I found these three deer Monday, with the only meat removed was the hindquarters, not even the backstraps were removed. They also removed the antlers from the small bodied buck. This was in NY, Allegheny State Park, Gun season started Saturday, they looked to be from Saturday. These was about...

NYS - Southern Tier Public Land

There are plenty of white oaks on public land in the NY southern tier, if you are finding small ones there are larger ones. However the red oak is 100 times more plentiful in this area. I find a lot in clusters in wetlands. They are also mixed in the red oaks all over the the place. Which if...

    Airtight Containers

Target has 20 gallon Ziplock bags. I use them a lot, for things after the hunt that might be damp, that I do not want to put back in tote until dry.

Eberhart Outdoors YouTube show on saddle hunting advantages and properly maneuvering in a tree

You have to wonder about a guy who has more boots than my wife has shoes, lol. Great videos. Practicing in the back yard is necessary and great learning, however one thing I found to be greatly helpful when I started out saddle hunting is to practice in September/October on does. Everything...

    Predator Platform Survey

I use both, depending on what species of tree & diameter. Large trees I use the amsteel daisy chain or in areas maximum quietness (in bedding areas). Do not use the daisy chain on hard smooth bark trees such as small poplar, it has a tendency to slip at bad times. Other times I will use the...

Does anyone use activated carbon? Not just scentlok

Alternative to activated carbon powder in boots is baking soda. No mess works great.

    Scent control sprays

You either have to be ALL IN or play the wind, just spraying down the outside of your clothes, boots and gear is not enough. Occasionally you get lucky, most times you doomed your hunt and you might not even realize. I wear a scentlok suit, spray down my non washable gear and outside of my...

    Wiggy's stuff?

I have used Wiggy's fishnet base layer, I don't use it now. I am warmer using merino wool base layer. Wiggy's sleeping bags are very warm along with the pac boots which are great for long sits in cold weather. If you want a noiseless outer layer pick up a good wool coat, they are absolutely...

    Quitting Coffee for Season

Either rinse out with hydrogen peroxide then water or brush your teeth with baking soda before entering the woods. The H2O2 takes getting use to, prefer the baking soda option. Only way to fool the big bucks is to be as 99.999 % scent free and hardcore detail oriented.

    Scent Eliminating Soap Recommendations

Dove unscented soap works like a charm.
