    Talk me out of bolts

Great information on this thread. Does anyone have a direct link(s) to a product page for bolts? I'm looking to buy 50 or so. Thanks in advance

    Rope scent

If anything I'd be more concerned about the wind blowing the rope. Prior to season you could soak your rope in a scent free detergent. Hang dry it outside and never put it away wet.

    What’s your Rain solution?

I enjoy being outside in the elements. Investing in good rain gear is definitely worth it. I have a cabelas bib + jacket set that I purchased about 5 years ago that it quiet and waterproof. Simms fishing gear is also amazing stuff. Having the right system makes hunting in gnarly weather...

    Meniscus tear and surgery?

Have then install some extra padding into your knee so you never have to bring knee pads or cushions into the woods again. I haven't had knee replacement surgery but my grandpa (83) did a double knee replacement 2 years ago and was golfing 6 weeks later. Hes so happy he did. My dad (62) had...

Down side of 1 stick climbing

I tried it but the fiddle factor was high. The few times I did try were not fun and I lost motivation. I went back to WE stepps and like them. I found it easier to go up and back down in case you have to get out of the tree for any reason. I got bit by the hype cause some people make it look...

I CAN’T KEEP MY FEET WARM

Alpaca socks and boots that are a size or two too big. But mainly alpaca socks. Artic shield boot covers as others have said.

Arrrrrrg! Loose dogs on "public" land....

If its something that really bothers you and it can't be ignored I would attempt a peaceful conversation with the dog owners. They probably have no clue its even hunting season. People usually bend rules in public places especially when there's typically no one around. If they knew you were...

Horrible day.. and I hate the mantis

Hopefully once you finally got situated you were able to see the value behind saddle hunting. Its a great way to hunt but it sounds like you just need the saddle that fits you. It also sounds like you were a little on the un prepared side and didn't give it much practice. Ditch the aider and...

    Recommended Beaver Traps

My brother got his hand stuck in a conibear trap 5 weeks ago. Thankfully he was wearing a thick leather glove and the trap was slightly warped. I am amazed he didn't lose or break a finger. He walked away with a swollen finger and thats it. The trap snapped closed right across his knuckles. Im...

    Learning to rappel questions

I tried rappelling with an ATC + autoblock and then switched to a safegaurd. To be honest I liked the ATC more and its WAY cheaper. The safegaurd was just too hard for me to get a constant speed. The lock off feature was nice but if I were to do it again an ATC would be my option.

    Hello from MN

Welcome! I'm another MBRB hunter. I used my saddle last year in the Lake Rebecca hunt. Kinda slow but someone shot a monster in September

    EWO alpaca socks

There was a thread on here a couple years ago about Alpaca socks being the best socks you can buy. I did alot of research and then ordered a pair. I can't remember the brand but I will never hunt in the cold without them again. They dry out fast and keep my feet warm and dry

    Folding Saw

Another silky user...well worth it. Don't cheap out. I bought the one treehopper sells after having a discussion with Mark the owner. Super nice guy and he persuaded me into purchasing the one he offers. It lasted for 6 limb cuts before the locking mechanism broke on a 2 inch buckthorn tree...

    AITA/negative encounter.

Tough to tell who's fault it is. If it were me I'd probably bring a six pack over and apologize and have a conversation about how you both feel about the situation and establish some ground rules. You are very lucky to have a private spot right next to your house. It could be gone like the wind...

WWYD - Permanent stand found on public state land

I always say if its on public its available to the public. That being said, don't trust anything without inspecting it. If its safe, hunt it! If you have an encounter with the person that set it up just keep it peaceful. Thats all assuming no laws are being broken. If its illegal to leave...

    Carrying a knife

I carry a knife every single day. Its strange because I basically never carry one in the saddle. It stays in my pack or I keep a small lightweight knife in my pocket
