    Shoulder Straps On Your Saddle?

I bought suspenders and love carrying the weight on my shoulders instead of my waist. Never use the waist belt on my Trophyline anymore.

    Gear clips???

I use a plastic s-biners with one gate removed.

    hand warmer muffs & saddles

I guess I'm boring because I use a muff with waist belt as it was intended. I just put it above my saddle and turn it backwards when walking/climbing, then pull it around front to use with a hand warmer. I mostly lean so its at perfect height and not in the way.

    Just a swing'n

I'm a leaner and like to sway slowly side to side just a few inches. If its really winding and grass, branches, and small trees are moving quite a bit, I don't worry too much about it because I'm just one more thing swaying in the wind. If its really calm, I try to be a bit more mindful and...

    Bow Hanger Suggestions

I buy the big, cheap D ring carabiners from Home Depot and pull the gate off and tape them up (no noise). They work great with the HYS strap for bow and pack hangers. Slip the small end up and thru the HYS opening and it leaves the large end as a bow holder. Cheap and easy.

    Trophyline Covert?

I love mine and also switched to the Covert Lite from the original TL. I did add a webbing bridge which I prefer over the stock adjustable bridge because it gives me more freedom of movement without a prussic hitting the carabiner.

    The trophy line bridge sucks:)

I cut mine off and replaced with amsteel and it was so much better. I've since gone to the Covert and replaced that bridge with 1" tubular webbing.

    Gathered end fleece

I followed the instructions here on the "double girth hitch" and had zero issues. In fact, it was tough to get the amsteel off the fleece when I wanted to remove it at the end of the season. Lots of guys do much fancier things than I did with the ends, but I just used a gathered end and kept...

    Knaider swaider pros cons?

For me, the knaider can be hard to ensure I get the hook over the step in the dark. I one stick and currently use a swaider and one step aider (loop). Putting the carabiner over the lower step is easy and then just toe to tree and the step aider is then close enough to my stick that it is...

    Trophyline Ambush Leg straps

I pondered it but the Covert was already in my head so I saved the $ I would have spent for buckles and bought a Covert. I knew I would have ended up there anyway so I skipped the middle step.

I would really like to see a "hunt any tree" challenge video.

Unfortunately I'm a slow learner. Last year I went to a buddy's stand in the dark and didn't realize the "small branches" I was moving out of the way were PI. Bad, but not crazy bad after a visit for some prescription ointment. This year, I tried to protect myself and "carefully" wrestle with...

Rappelling setup, figure 8 or ATC, a few questions

I use 9mm HTP and an ATC with auto block (Distel Hitch) off a lineman's loop. Super simple, locks in quick so I can pause to unhook platform and stick on the descent, but doesn't bind up tight. I carry a figure 8 as a backup in case I get a case of fumble-itis with my ATC. I might go to a...

What will you change/improve for next year?

Probably cut my 1 stick down even further and switch to Canyon-IV and use it as my rappel / tether rather than tether up the tree with a short C-IV then hook up a separate rappel rope (HTP) for descent. I just don't like to ascend and hunt with the HTP. Too bulky, too stiff. Scout more...

Recommendations needed for a budget friendly saddle

Another vote for the TL Covert. Just got mine and love it. Last year I used fleece here in SW Oklahoma and it wasn't too hot. From a pure comfort perspective it is hard to beat.

How long does it take you to set up?

I haven't timed myself but would guess 20 min tops. That's base of tree to arrow nocked, bow hanging on hanger, and release on. The trees around here are not great so I always have to go around branches. The plus side is that I generally don't have to get my platform higher than about 15-18ft...

    Top saddles

Good to hear. I have one on the way. The military discount was too good to pass up. Merry Christmas to me!

    Must Have Duck Hunting Gear

Got some new waders from Rogers this year in a pre-black Friday sale after my 14yr old neoprenes leaked too much for me to keep using. Insulation zips out and will be a game changer for early Teal. Duck hunting took on a whole new level for me when I got a dog several years ago. She's a big...

    Newbie questions

I'm not as expert as others on here, but here's what I have / recommend: Rope- I bought 35ft of Sterling HTP. Works good but if I had to do it over, I'd use Sterling C-IV Canyon. I have that for my tether and like it better; smaller and packs better. Since I'm cheap and already invested in HTP...

    Sterling Canyon C-IV Questions - Doublesteps.com

I have oplux, C-IV, and 9mm HTP. HTP is my rappel rope and C-IV is my tether. I bought oplux to check it out and to use as either a LB, 2nd tether, or to cut down as a bridge. Have only played around with it so far but will probably just carry it as LB/backup. I really like the C-IV. Great...
