weight ratings of sticks n platforms

My son is a 6'3" weight lifter who started saddle hunting this year. He weighs 275 and is wondering if he is close to the ratings of any of his equipment. We both use Helium sticks and Ridge Runner platforms. Is there any equipment on the market rated at or under 300 lbs? Any saddle hunters...

Friction hitch alternatives for Oplux 8mm

I built two tethers and two LB's for my son and I with 8mm Oplux and 6mm Sterling TRC for friction hitches. Unfortunately I mindlessly cut the TRC wrong, as a result I need another 3' of 6mm for one more distel hitch. Opening day is in Northern CA is Saturday which is not enough time to get...

Using a rock climbing harness for backup with a Sitdrag

As backup I attach the center loop on my RCH to my tether with a second distel hitch/carabiner below the carabiner attached to my bridge. I have read some go without a harness, relying solely on the Sitdrag without backup. Thoughts on that?

Will this prusik tender work well with a distel hitch?

I know of the 90 degree Shizl and also the 90 degree 3D printed aiders for the Distel. I thought I saw someone using this type tender (pictured below) with the Distel. Can anyone comment on how well it would work with the Distel hitch? Thanks!

Did I tie this figure 8 knot correctly?

Have some new 8mm Oplux from Dano and tied a figure 8 knot for the first time. The instructional video I used says all the strands should be parallel. They are on one side but when I flip the knot over it does not look 100% correct to me. Did I make a mistake with this knot? I gotta get...

First fall in many years of hunting...

I use a speedy stitcher and put three or four stitches on the tag ends of every knot. Peace of mind as knots are pretty much impossible to untie with that treatment.

    Helium standoff

When setting your helium's on oak trees make certain that both sides of each standoff are engaged on the tree. Due to the deep and irregular bark it's very possible to have one of the four points not touching the tree and it will still grab the tree and not move when you pull down on it or stand...

    Platform attachment

To get my platform out of the pack I simply slip one arm out of the strap, pull the platform out and slip my arm back in. Effortless.
