2017 Deer Contest Discussion

Being on a team got me to hunt more during rifle season. I usually spend a great deal of time in the woods during bow season and then minimally during rifle. But this season I really wanted to upgrade my bow buck to something respectable for the contest. 2 deer in the freezer usually means I am done hunting but this year I put 3 in the freezer. Gonna be a fun summer on the grill! Congrats to Team 8 for setting the bar super high this season.
Are we gonna do a best buck vote this year @redsquirrel ??

Love this contest, it definitely got me out into the woods more. I was thinking that the trad guys/gals shouldn't be all on the same team, they should just be part of the random team drawing with everyone. Just a thought for next year..

I think they wanted to be on the same team. I was thinking we can add a team trophyline next year!

There will be. Make sure you get your posts in over the next month. There will be a minimum post requirement of 50 posts. This is done to ensure we have active members joining the contest.

I believe we are all given a number and then Red picks the teams at random. Number of teammates will depend on how many hunters are involved.

What @Jefferson10940 said we all sign up and everyone is assigned a number. Red then takes all the numbers and throws them in his famous number generator. Then he divides them in teams so it’s completely random. Last year was a competitive year. We all do some trash talking lol but its all super friendly and its all based on honesty. No prizes just bragging rights lol. My team last year took it for example we smashed it. It got close at the end but we pulled through.

I think as more saddle hunters start to pop up its going to be even more fun. It makes you want to get out no matter the conditions and it just is a good ole fun competition. Again no prizes just bragging rights which imho is gold!!!!
