2019 Helium Mods

Anyone know of some after marker suction cups i can put on my old heliums?

Maybe I'll sell you the ones off the new set I just picked up. I don't like them near as much as I thought I would (the suction cups that is. The sticks I love).

They don't attach or hold quite as tight as demonstrated in the ATA video. Lots of wobble and forces the sticks wider apart than they need to be. I might remove mine and go with @DaveT1963 exercise pad mod with bungie's (which didn't come with set as advertised). One of the major benefits of this climbing system is how compact they pack.

I tried some Beal 8mm dynamic rope and the sticks sagged like..... Well they sagged excessively.
The 11mm is stiff as he11, it has a rough surface for better grip and the knot is easy to untie. It weighs more than the strap and buckles however. It seems like I need three hands to handle the sticks and straps but the rope was easier.

You answered your own problem. You used dynamic rope. It is designed with elongation to absorb fall shock. You need 8mm static line.

You used a rope that used for rock climbing dynamic rope is made to stretch to take some of the impact from a fall you should have used a static rope instead!

Absolutely.

I have two different colors of primer, the darker of the two was the base. I let it dry and applied lines of the two camo paints in no specific order breaking up the primer. I took paper and crushed it up to form edges that ran parallel to each other trying to mimic bark. Using that paper and other pieces like it I applied the lighter color gray primer as well as the brown and tan camo in areas where it stood out. After that I hit it with flat white highlights as well as gray and continued to blend the multiple colors together until I got the result I wanted. Each stick took about 15 minutes.

I’ve gotten several requests on Facebook pages for a video so if I can get some help to record it then I’ll make a quick video with either another stick or my predator platform when it arrives.

Thx. I dont think I'm talented enough to make mine look like yours.

How high can you get with just the sticks? I HAVE to use a 2 step aider in order to get three sticks to 20ft. Im 6-5” if that makes a difference.

I’m using 4 sticks so that’s the big difference, with 4 I can get 20-22’ (I’m kinda short haha) I may do a length of 1” tubular on my bottom stick just to get an extra 2 foot or so but I’m still debating on that.

I’m a stubby 5’9. And stock 3 stick climb with as much stretch and lean as I’m comfortable with, puts my platform at 16-17 feet

No sir, I thought about it but I like them at full length. Don’t want to have to fool with an aider getting up and down the tree

I just noticed we are practically neighbors...I'm Midlo but work in Henrico. I got my heliums a week ago but haven't done anything with them yet. Sort of waiting on @g2outdoors mod video.....hint...hint.
