I’m in. Getting stationed in Q-town come August 1st so I’ll be in the “AO” .

Did someone mention a time yet? I guess it’s always 5 o’clock somewhere....

Morning for sure. Anybody who has been outside today that doesnt want to do it in the am is crazy. Always run the risk of afternoon storms also. Brewery opens at 11, so anyone who wishes to partake will be able to when we finish up.

So what do you folks have to bring?
Saddles: Phantom, Flex, and Cruzr
Platforms: Gen 1 Predator and Ridge Runner
Packs: Multiple, including Mystery Ranch Popup 38
Climbing: Kiwi Carbon Spurs, Klein Steel Spurs, couple Wild Edge steps, Ameristeps, API Skyhooks

I just bought a Kill suit sapper yesterday so I will be bringing it as well. I'm in the process of deciding on a new pack, if I pull the trigger between now and August I'll bring it along. Leaning towards a J34 Just One currently but the favorite has been changing frequently. Also got some cutthroat 250's coming whenever they get stock.

Packs are the hardest for me to figure out. I have a couple generic I have tried and will bring. Just now starting down the road of "adult arrows and broadheads".

It took me a while to get my "adult arrows" right, and it came with some frustration but I'm super confident now that I worked through the process. Only piece left to do is shoot the broadheads once I get them. I've got a half dozen at 575 grains and 22% FOC, and another right around 725 grains and 29%. Both shoot equally well, bareshaft and fletched, with only an inch or so difference in point of impact at 30 yards. They definitely will not be setting any speed records haha but I have completely bought in. I think its easier for me to buy in because I am brand new to bow hunting, so I don't have any indoctrination into the "flapper" world. I stumbled upon the ranch fairy and Dr. Ashby and it just made sense to me, so I am doing it.

Been watching those video's for the last several days. Informative and Entertaining.

Thanks

I'll bring my solo scout with 2 slotted steps, Mantis, Silenced but stock buckles climb right aluminums. I have never hunted from a saddle but my heart is pushing me into this crazy direction. I would love to see what systems you guys have and pick you guys' brains a bit

I'm in the same boat you are. First year in the saddle and bow hunting. My wife says that my hobby has become an obsession and she is right. Not that I didn't spend as much time in the woods previously during muzzleloader and rifle season but I have put more time and effort into this off-season as I have in all previous years combined probably. I'm cautiously optimistic about the season. What I do know is that I am going to experience and learn a lot this fall.

Cannot wait to get in the woods and hunt some deer come October - and am also really looking forward to this meet up and learning from the seasoned saddle hunters, as well as the other new guys. I'll be interested in how new guys like you and me came to the decision to start down this path, and how you came to the decision on your gear, methods, etc.

This is why I wanted to get some folks together. There are a bunch of new guys to saddle hunting here in NOVA and it's not as tho one can go into cabelas and try on a saddle. Additionally, land in these parts is hard to come by so mobile hunting serves us well.

I'm thinking of making the switch from the knaider/swaider to a multistep aider with my WEs, but would like to try it out first if anyone has an aider they can bring that'd be sweet
