Our nuisance goose starts 9/1 and looking forward to it!
Looking forward to getting 1.5 year old Phin on birds for real. We will not start him battling honkers, we will wait for ducks for his debut.

Right, I can just see a mean one with one broken wing giving him the business. I don't want that to be the first experience, however I do plan on taking him during the regular season if everything goes well with ducks. He'll be fine unless they're not dead...lol.
I had black lab that never flinched, even at a year and a half. I had a Chesapeake that I thought would be an ass kicker.....he didn't even like briars, let alone a crippled goose. Took him a little longer. Of course once he grew up he could ice over and never shiver.
You steel that picture from JAB??
Come on over. You can shoot my 2. More blacks here than mallards.
Yeah, duck hunters are nutjobs. I thought I was hard-core until I picked up the sport. Frickin animals.
Deer hunters complain about the cold. Duck hunters complain about it not getting cold enough while wading around in the mud and riding little coffin boats. All for 3 bites of duck breast.

No ducks were harmed in the making of this video.
He wasn't even a year old in this video. I think we went 3 times last year just to give him a feel for it. Never got a feather in his mouth. He's way calmer this year and i think I'm going to try and take him every time I go solo.
Next year he'll be 2, going on 3. Hoping to have him useful and ready to hunt around others by then. This will be his warm up year.
