2023: Tethrd Ultralock Saddle (Formerly, the LockDown)

I just got to try this thing on today and get in a tree with it on. Here are my thoughts. Tethrd ( no I am not a fan or anti fan) hyped up the minimalist market and ultra light products. They then developed those products for those customers who want that product.

This device is for the customers who do not want that. This device is more of the large comfortable Cadillac for someone who wants the comfort of the JX3 or something in that ballpark.

So how I see it, Tethrd covered the spread on lightweight and now is giving the customer another option they didn’t prior to this product. I’m assuming they want to compete with the other two panel options already out there or similar saddle types. Where they win over the others is their marketing and exposure. More people will see this one than they will other options just based on their massive online marketing.

It is comfortable. The pockets are not in the way at all. A walk in the woods with it on with sticks and a platform attached to the back wouldn’t be bad at all either. It does remind me of a battle belt setup with your tether on at the same time. They just made it a onesie.

How did you get one?

What saddle do you normally sit in, and when you consider this one to be more or less comfortable than your primary saddle?

The audacity, you mean to tell me a business has made the choice to expand their product offerings and then market the new products in an attempt to sell said product, thus generating revenue and profits....how dare them.

I think all these companies trying new things is great! Some products may succeed some may fail some may work for you and some may not. Its just nice to see these companies pushing the envelope and not just sitting back on same old same old. I watch people condemn products before they are even released without ever even trying them all based on a 30 second you tube video. I for one salute these people for daring to try!

Is it more comfortable than that Cruzr XC you had or the dryad Drey you currently use?

I was only in it for about 15 minutes and stationary. It reminded me of the XC the most. Without being in the design game like you are I’d be willing to say that they are very similar in total width and length.

The Drey and Drey mini (my go to last year and this year) are a different material so the feel is different. I am fortunately in excellent physical health but I can see this set up doing well with individuals who really want back support or those who want one do it all system that can also hold sticks and platforms and have the build in storage on both sides.

I have a feeling Tethrd will release some sort of addition that allows the connection of a pack or sticks to it like one nice little package.

Yut!
I run the Dryad Drey and mini (new Gen).
I previously have used the Cruzr XC and Archon as well. It feels most like the XC. As I stated in another thread, I was only in it for 15 minutes. I can see it doing well with people who want more back support.

At the outdoors show they said there is going to be a molle type attachment under the pouches that they think most will use to attach their sticks to.

Who’s thinking about ordering this when it becomes available Saturday?

I’m very interested in it from a one stick saddle application…. Plenty of room for rope and whatever else you’d need in those side pockets. I don’t ever like buying the first of anything that’s new, but I’m thinking seriously about pulling the trigger on this.

I’ll likely give it a go.

And how is it that you know it will be available for order on Saturday?

I wonder if anybody on here went to the Tethrd Celebration party last weekend and tried it out. Maybe they can give some thoughts about it.
