2023 Turkey Hunting Thread

Back in the day, Winchester supreme 2 oz #5 was the go to. Had a benelli M! super 90 w/ 21" barrel and a MAD choke (made by indian creek) .665, threw a wonderful pattern. Killed a pile of turkeys with that gun and load before the tungsten offerings were even thought about.

Hoping this is the year I kill my first bird. This will be my third year. It’s been a progression for me. I hunt southeastern Ohio. First year I had 2 gobblers sneak in on me and couldn’t get a shot. Last year I shot and missed, it was a cluster and a long shot. Setup is a Remington 870 supermag, running a Longbeard choke, and Longbeard 3” #5’s shells.

You did say you'd pay 50/box... These online retailers must have been listening lol (no affiliation just Google search results that I'm sure you've seen before)

Apparently I'm just out of touch with prices. My local brick and mortar has them in stock here in MD as well, made the mistake of visiting again and may be leaving with a new gun

That Winchester Super X has been the worst load I've seen on paper through two 870's. Absolutely terrible even at 20 yards. My dad was shooting those and he never put his gun on paper. He kept missing birds and we found out why quickly.
Benneli SBEs have put down over 25. Patterns perfect for me. I'm sticking with works for me IMHC. lol

And that is why I told my father to pattern any load he buys! Its amazing what works for some guns/choke combo and not others.

I WISH my gun liked those loads. Would save me money
