2023 Turkey Hunting Thread

What cut on your mouth calls do u guys like for purring? Purring has driven me nuts the last few years.

Hehe I’ll take that as a thank you! Haha I hate that I love the stuff. When u can make a .410 a viable Turkey gun that shows its true worth.
 
Just picked up a box of these bad boys at cabelas. Checked for 3.5s and they didn’t have any @Fgirtyman.

Anyone already shooting these and have a good choke combo? Thinking I’m going to give them a try with my current choke, and if I don’t get a decent pattern, I’m moving to the Carlsons XR.

EDIT: Does anyone shoot these with an undertaker or other brand choke, other than the Carlsons XR?

Went fishing this morning and saw a couple strutting in an open field. Heard a handful of gobbles too. Still got 3 more weeks till we can get after em tho.

The dutchtouch found my shells for me out east. Thanks for your effort! Zone 4 5th or 6th season still good time to kill a bird. Good luck!

I shoot them through a JEBs choke.... deadly
 
Let me start off by saying that I used to turkey hunt years ago but I just don't get what is so appealing about it. Putting all that effort in to killing a bird that you might get 2 or 3 meals from when you could be saving all that vacation time for deer makes no sense to me but to each his own. I never had a problem filling my tags either as I believe that people give turkeys way to much credit for an animal with a brain the size of a pea. They do have amazing senses though. Now that I have gotten that out of the way and probably ticked off most of you reading this I just wanted you guys to know that if you want some great turkey hunting then come to Maine and shoot all of them you want. Seriously though we are over run with them and the hunting pressure here is pretty low as far as turkey hunters go. I have to throw rocks at them sometimes to get them out of my yard so there isn't turkey crap all over the lawn. Saw a video a while back where THP hunted turkeys in Maine and if I remember correctly they tagged out on day 1.

How much for non-resident? :)

Of course it's quite a ways from West Michigan to Maine so I'm probably not burning vacation either lol
