2024 Gear thread

Anyone hear of this company before? Ran into them couple days ago. Some
packs look decent

Looks like they’ve been around a few years, but have some new designs. (https://www.youtube.com/@ElevationEquipped/videos)

I don’t see a listed weight for any of the bags. Sort of a red flag to me.

Yoke is out of the MR playbook…

This isn't 2024 new but I don't think I've seen it mentioned before. The expandable drawstring top is intriguing. Should be quicker and quieter than zipper access and it's got me considering doing some mods to my HPG bags. Thoughts?

I bought one of their bow cases back in 2020. Their bow cases are pretty good. I've never bought any of their other stuff though (I believe they were the only company who was making bow cases which had the Mathews brand name on them at the time).

Eberlestock has been doing this for years at a very high level. Now Kifaru is going to sell the exact same thing and price it like a Rolex. Sad.

Kifaru‘s Mountain Rambler had a retractable scabbard. That dates back to 2015, so Kifaru’s chased this design awhile. Of course they had to cease and desist sales of that bag due to Eberlestock‘s existing design. Patent is up I guess.

Website says the Scabbard is 4lbs 7oz, and does not specify w/ frame. At that weight, it’s going to be very niche.

Here’s the video on it:

There is not much about Eberlestock that I would say is high level. They make nice stuff but not even close to the other companies. The price of Kifaru is tough but that’s what we get for American made.

I think Timber Ninja has some great ideas n innovation. But comparing to other options they are just way over priced even with 10% off.

With a 10% discount, the Timber Ninja Black Belt Ultimate saddle with two Premium Saddle Bags is only $5 more than the Tethrd Ultralock saddle XL.

$125 for a Chinese made Tethrd One stick, $135 for a US made C1 stick when 10% is applied.

Do I think TN is a bit out of touch sometimes, yes. But I do consider that they are a small business with all US made products. When they make something good, pricing isn’t always as much of a stretch as it initially appears.

They’ve historically gouged on shipping though I think they may have made strides there, idk.

How stiff are the soles?
Those tire tread soles are super soft and flexible, the Goodyear rubber soles are a lot stiffer and more durable. I like the tire tread soles because they're more comfortable and you can feel the ground underneath your feet, but they definitely wear out quicker than the Goodyear soles. I need to send mine in for a resole before next season.

The description on Schnee's website for the new boots isn't accurate. It says they use the Goodyear airbob sole but you can clearly see in the pictures they use the tire tread soles. The Schnee's outfitter has always been the tire tread sole version and the Hunter is the Goodyear sole version, other than that they're the same boot.
