2025 Getting/Staying In Shape Motivation Thread

Went to the Harrisburg Outdoor show today, spent too much
Went to a shoe store afterwards, spent too much
I need less expensive hobbies

Daydreaming already about trail running with lithium battery packs in my trail running vest and swapping out some batteries and SD cards. Also - word on the street is there are sheds being found in my area already.

I have come down with an illness. The flu is going around the workplace along with another bug. I'm not sure which I have, but I haven't had a fever, only cold chills, so that's good I guess. Missed out on my long run Saturday and wont train today (4 mile run). I'll have to make up for some of the missed volume when I get back to it.

I tell myself the same thing on having expensive hobbies. I tell my friends that give me grief about it that it beats doing drugs, although drugs are probably cheaper.

I've seen a few people finding sheds in my area as well and have seen a few deer that have shed one or both sides.

This afternoon I went for my first outdoor run in several weeks. Got to the end of the first mile, and my jaw dropped when my app called out the time. I was faster than I was back in October at my peak last year. I was able to maintain that pace for almost 2.5 miles. I'm not talking blazing speed, I was just under a 9:30 mile, but that's pretty quick for my old knees.

Ran 8 on hilly dirt roads Saturday. Hiked a mile in and a mile out with my pack yesterday. Unfortunately it weighed the same on the hike out. (fish weren't biting)
Sounds a lot like my college days. Hike in to the power plant discharge and hope the stripers were in there. Seems like it was an all or nothing kind of thing.

Get yourself well first and foremost… there will be plenty of time to train once you fully recover.

I took a rest day Sunday. 5k last night, a full minute faster than last time I think. Gym and maybe some more cardio this afternoon, my wieght shot right up the other day and isn't coming right back down. Not sure what's up with that.

@hokiehunter373 , last night I did see am option to always have a self evaluation. Mine is set to " workout only" but there is an option for "always" . I found it in the options then settings for treadmill type activity. Just thought I'd share that since it came up the other day

Things have been chaotic for me since the bachelor party weekend. Behind on work, family, chores, etc. Luckily this is supposed to be a lower volume week for me before I build big time next week and the week after. Should get around a 5k in today and a short tempo tomorrow. Ice storm incoming gotta figure out how I’m managing runs/workouts during that. Then gotta hammer the next couple weeks so I can give myself a chance at not having this thing be completely miserable

sounds like you are ready for Strava. Come on in the water is fine

last night was hill repeats - 2x(8x30s, 45s recovery) 4 min rest
5 mile easy today
tomorrow is 8x1000 at threshold 1 min rest

might have to move stuff around due to weather, TBD

Did my hour yesterday, got my hammys pretty good. Coach guy replied " Finally!!!!" When I told him, lol. Put in some treadmill time tonight, intended to finish a 3rd mile but hammys weren't very happy with me after the faster second mile so only got 2.5 running.
