2025 Getting/Staying In Shape Motivation Thread

Not sure when I last posted. I did a few very short but no rest strength stuff the end of last week to get my HR up a bit. Did a tad of the elliptical in there. Good effort at boot camp Saturday a.m. on the back of a pre-workout. It works for now but I'm not really a fan. I'll not thrilled with my cardio ( probably overly hard on myself) but otherwise pretty happy with progress in the strength and strength endurance area.

Consistency is King or Queen!

Nothing on Friday, 7 trail miles in absolutely beautiful weather Saturday morning.
Hiked a mile with gear yesterday, powerlifted a few good blues, hiked out a mile with a heavier pack.
Did light shoulder work with weights then a bunch of shoveling.
I was smoked at the end of yesterday, but fresh fried blue cat, potatoes and salad was awesome!
Plan is 6-8 miles on trail after work today.

6 trail miles today. 900 foot of gain. Felt amazing and wish I had more time to keep going. Legs felt so good. Shooting for a half marathon early tomorrow morning
Sunday morning run. 1 mile warm up then shooting for 8:30 miles for the next 11

8:37
8:33
8:31
8:21
8:20
8:44
8:26
8:34
8:39
8:36
8:15

Then was supposed to be a cool down mile which I started before realizing if I didn’t do that I could set my half marathon PR even with my slow warm up mile. So 9:47 final mile to PR my 15k, 10 mile, 20k, and half marathon times. Feeling so great about my progress and especially the fact that I could have cut about 6 mins off my previous record if there would have been no warm up or part of a cool down mile. Oh and that was with 900 foot of elevation too. Then that afternoon went and caught my biggest bass ever. A dang good Sunday! Excited to keep grinding this week.

That's awesome @hokiehunter373 ! And I'm just excited that I did 4 miles at my normal 3 miles pace :tearsofjoy:.
Did my 45 min endurance ride yesterday and got my 12.5k steps in. Today I must get some PT in, then do my 20 min warm up ride and then do bis/tris.

I put in 45 minutes on the elliptical last night. Usual coach thing later today

if I remember right I knocked out my 1rm on bench 15 times today. Haven't tested in a while, so obviously it's not my 1rm anymore but the weight from last time. :)

TLDR;
I've been working on my bench press specifically, in an effort to dislike push-ups less. Lol. Not realistic whether my efforts are misplaced or not haha. But Coach had a few exercises for 50 reps today set up as do reps to failure ( -ish, or just call it for reps out of 50. Should adjust weight here if you're calling it for reps) then do 2 other exercises for equal time as it took for the reps, repeat until you get 50 total. I think I got 15 @1rm, then 8 then 6. Then he dropped the weight some. Even if I only got 12 That's a big improvement. Feels good to have measurable improvement!

Gainz feels good

Could use some help from some hoof experts, pop them or let them ride? Not too bad during the day, but they have me hobbling around at night.

I think the general wisdom is to always let blisters be if possible. That skin is still a layer of protection for the skin underneath to heal/not get infected.
I agree with this "after you already got booster blister" stage.. the general wisdom within hikers - don't to blisters at all..
Cover the hot/spots on your feet with bandaids before they turn to blisters

I need to correct this. Guess I only got 8. I'm still just as happy about it but I can't leave wrong info.

Good workout today, 8 miles total, did 1mi WU, then 8x1k w/1 min walk, 1 min jog rest. Steady progression from 8:09 to 7:52 pace on first 7 then 7:29 pace for last one. Last hard workout before 10k, feeling a bit more confident trying for sub 50 now but we'll see.

Also debating getting a second set of shoes for these faster sessions, the novablasts are feeling a bit flat with only about 225 miles on them. Don't notice much on jogging days but felt it a bit today.
