6oz climbing method that works!

This makes me want to try this with a ropeman and as a double step in bottom as you're doing here.

I think the ropeman would allow movement up the rope much much easier than the prussic.

Just an observation: I think you could get the same result with a small step and a multi step aider one sticking. The biggest difference would be the slight addition of the weight of the stick. The benefit would be able to cover 3-4 times the distance with a single stick movement.

Then repel down as you've been doing and you've got an incredibly efficient system there!
Agreed. For that matter, 1 sticking is much more efficient. One of my goals here is to go as metal-less as possible and keep weight down. This is going to be my "glove box" setup, for those 1hr hangs in local TVA properties. Plus, anytime your leg/climbing, you are introducing slack. With this set up, im never on a slack line.

So, this is what I'm using for the video (hope to get it done this afternoon.) Amsteel climbing tether, 1/4 amsteel daisychain saddle tether (pick shows OPLUX. I changed that out.) zingit gear hanger, 2 biners, 4 Treehopper steps and a ocb buckle. Homemade saddle.

Already planning on changing out the saddle tether with 9ft full bury 3/16 amsteel and kong duct. Been testing the double bury 3/16 amsteel and Kong and it works. I've hung 520 lbs from it so far with no issues.

Looking forward to the video!

Slack is something that's so easy to introduce. I fell about 8" or so back in january using my LWHC, I should have adjusted the base and when I stood up to adjust my tether it slid down until the tether caught. To my surprise, it wasn't much of a jar falling that far and I didn't have any discomfort or pain later from it.

I like what you've got going on here!

Glad it wasnt further, and you came out ok! Maybe some hurt pride and soiled britches, but a big lesson learned im sure!

I'm curious to see your video. I tried something very similar a while ago and I found it too difficult. It was hard to stay upright so I could advance my normal tether while standing on the lower one.

I tried using my linemans belt, which helped some, but at that point it was pretty cumbersome.

Ive been up and down the backyard tree a few times, but weather and schedule have prevented me from getting a video. I did add a prusik midway on the foot tether that allows be to lean back a bit when moving the saddle tether up.

For the guy looking for ultra light ultra packable set up, this is a viable option. Not comfortable to ascend, but it's pretty fast. Takes me about 5 minutes to get to 20ft. About 17 reps.

For everything you need to hunt (except weapon and water) this set up comes in at about 4 1/2 lbs. That includes (from top left):
1. 30ft zingit haul rope and niteeze gear tue
2. Cheap, light knee pads
3. Phantom clone
4. Climing system and 2 biners
5 (bottom left) zingit gear hanger with bow hook and 2 shiners
6. Knife
7. Head lamp
8. 5 treehopper steps and ocb strap/buckle
9. Tether, prussik and biner.

Yes, that prussik holds on the amsteel tether fine. Full buried 3/16. Loaded 520lbs on it and bounced.

Another note, if you have been on the fence about the treehopper steps, they are awesome. Ive owned squirrel steps (which are awesome as well and lighter), bullmans and ameristeps, but these are the most stable for me ( big boy).

Cool. I'll keep hounding you for a video then :)

I really want to get a similar system going. I really don't like carrying steps.

I'm in Ontario and am new to SH-picked up Phantom from my US PO box at 5:00 yesterday. Looking forward to being in a tree! I really like your setup especially since coming from a climber. Your zingit is cool and very packable, I thought I was doing something with my DIY HYS strap. I guess I have lots to learn
