8 step aider

I would take @EricS advice and keep the moves reasonable based on personal limitations. I personally give up inches to have a comfortable tie point. Only time I reach for the sky is with my taider (tether + aider).

It has been done. I personally don't like to attach anything to the stepps. An aider attached to the stepps requires the stepp to be solidly attached to the tree at all times. If the stepp develops some play whether it be soft bark tree or even a smooth parked tree it is significantly more prone to kickout. There are few documented mishaps over the years. You can probably still find BrokenLimbs thread in AT. I think it was around 2012. He almost got seriously hurt when one kicked out on a beech tree.

What is AT?

Prussic can be used in place of ascender. I climb with my tether.

Thanks, you know climbing with the tether seems much safer than just a lineman’s belt...but all the u tubers say I just need to use that lineman’s belt...

Careful free climbing with the tether. Most tethers are made of static rope and are work positioning ropes and not designed for significant falls. If your climbing method puts you in danger of taking a bigger multi foot fall, you should consider using dynamic rope to anchor your system. A lot of this risk can be mitigated by employing a little self belay while climbing (aka taking up the slack with an ascender or other positioning hitch/device).
