8mm Oplux questions & uses

I use it for both my tether and lineman rope. I absolutely love it. I am using the RollNLock from Climbing Technology instead of Ropeman or Kong Duck. The RollNLock is rated at 20kN. I just couldn't see using the Kong Duck which is rated at 880 lbs when I'm investing in Sterling Oplux.
4kn as a rope clamp.

Would like to know if that device has the bad habit of cutting the rope or just slipping around that 4kn load....

Short video. It’s not noiseless as incorrectly say in the video but I’m shaking it pretty hard to get any noise. Key to Kong’s is an oval biner.
Anyway, as requested.

Could you repost the video or send it to me in PM I can’t get it to work?? I have oval biners, and oplux on the way but want them quite!

Do you have one for silencing the Kong’s?? I’m running oplux with Kong’s for tether and LM but the biners and Kong’s make noise. I think I’m just gonna hockey tape them
Stealth strips and a soldering pen

what length of TRC do you recommend for a distel on the oplux?

Also is the TRC easy to cut to length?

Sterling TRC cuts like most other new tech cords, it works but you need to tape/cut/shrink wrap. That’s exactly what Sterling recommends. It doesn’t melt like traditional rope material. Same process works with the Beal cordelette or jammy material if you go that route.

TRC with shrink wrap. I put a drop of super glue gel on the end of the cut rope but that may or may not be necessary.

I used 3.5 feet of TRC for my finished product.

Thanks.

Anyone tried a the sterling hollow autoblock on oplux (edit: for rappelling) with good results?

From what I gather the hollowblock should only be used as a backup not as your primary safety device.

The pictures I posted are from my LB and tether. DO NOT use the hollowblock for that purpose.

I haven’t used it as a backup on rappel with OpLux but can’t imagine it not working. It flattens under tension and will grab better than any conventional rope.

Been using it the last few times - tying the autoblock in the dark is not advisable for beginners. Had a controlled descent but couldn't stop along the way one time - wasn't dressed properly. Now after I get setup for the afternoon hunt I take a couple minutes and setup my rappel rope and equipment while its light out. I tie the autoblock (with HollowBlock) on my right LB loop and when rappelling I pull the rap cord under my seat and control it with my left hand. I'm a big guy and the extra friction helps I guess. Still experimenting with different setups.

That’s what a 30’ Oplux rappel rope looks like wadded up.

I’ve been using an Oplux bridge, tether and LB for a while now. Rappelled for the first time in a hunting situation this past Saturday with some 11mm static I had laying around and I’m sold. Measured out the Oplux Rappel line today and haven’t had a chance to give it a go.

I’m using an ATC XP with prussic autoblock and I’m thinking with the 8mm I may well end up using 2 carabiners for more friction.

I went with the 9mm htp. After reviewing specs it was maybe a pound difference for the length i needed. I know bulk is the real issue, but I imagine this living at the bottom of my pack until its ready to descend. If its too bulky, I'll know something to tell the wife for Christmas ideas...who am I kidding I'm already telling her to get me a EWO gift card.
