A real bad day

I have a youth bow that I had used for years as a kid. When I finally realized I had outgrown it, I bought a new bow for hunting and turned the old PSE Spyder into a bowfishing rig. I shot a bunch of deer with that bow, including my first ever at age 14, as well as a whole mess of carp too.

One day, when I was loading up to go shoot some fish, I set the bow on the driveway next to the truck. I think you know where this is going...

I forgot it was there and ran it over. Long story short, at least you did not have to stand there, feeling like a complete moron, looking at the bow you shot your first ever deer with, completely destroyed on the pavement.

Set my very expensive Oakley prescription bifocal glasses on the bumper of my truck while taking a sweatshirt off. Hopped in, drove all the way home and was sitting down to look at SH when the panic set in. Looked everywhere, drove the 20 miles back and looked all over. Spot lighted the road the whole way home. Went back the next day and "combed the beach". Never found them. I still look to this day and that was 2+ years ago. I guess I should let them go........

Sorry to hear about your bow loss during the season but I have forgotten something during a hunt. I was on a bear hunt in Saskatchewan- an hour drive to the drop off point then another 45 minutes on a quad and arrived at stand without my quiver full of arrows. When I got back to my home town everybody was ribbing me about the situation because the owner of the lease was a local businessman and it' s a pretty small town.

Hmm. I might go find somewhere to scribe my name & phone on my bow riser now. Or maybe a silicone dog tag kind of thing that won't make any noise. Won't stop someone from taking it and cutting off the tag, but will give an easy way to contact the owner.

Your not alone I had two friends who did the same thing. One with his bow and the other with a crossbow. The first thing I do when I reach my vehicle is put my bow or crossbow in side. That way I know I won't forget it. Thanks too my friends that's the lesson I learned.

Last year, while dragging out a doe down a deer trail, I would go up ahead 30 yards and place my xbow to the side then drag the deer about 30 yards past and go back and get my xbow. And repeat. When I got to the horse trail I started dragging the deer and after a few hundred yard I stop and think, do I have everything, my hands feel empty. I realized my xbow was gone. I left the deer there, tagged, and went back and got my xbow.

Ouch! On top of all of that USPS has apparently lost a dozen arrows that I shipped @trailblazer75 almost a month ago.

Just sent you a PM @trailblazer75 with some potentially hopeful news on the arrows. My postmaster said not to write them off yet.
Did they find them in the back room behind some filing cabinets? :D My friend used to work at the post office and told me when they found some 20 year old mail. He said they had to deliver it. It's the law.

Man that is awful to hear that's my worst fear. I double and triple ck that I have all my gear and still manage to loose something every year!!!

GUYSSSS!!!

You’re never gonna believe this but a dude from Australia found my bow! He called the local agent who called me.

My baby is coming home!!!

That's awesome! It's good to be reminded that there are still people out there who do the right thing.

It was a bowtech insanity. With a Montana black gold ascent verdict single pin on a dovetail bar. Easton bloodline 330s with lumenoks. Limb quiver. Weird stabilizer bar that I made from two different stabilizers but looks like a trophy line. Red and black strings. Rip cord red drop away. It’s left handed.

Check the bow shops, pawn shops. and craigslist. Not many people shoot lefty so it’s bound to show up.....

I had a German exchange student tell me that Hitler sent an application to an art school before the holocaust, and the application for the school was found behind some shelves in their post office some 50 years later. If only that parcel had made it to the intended destination it may have changed the course of history.
