Amsteel Attachment for Squirrel Steps

I’m beginning to think the loop alien is the most viable with these.

A whoopie sling would be nice with a delta link but there’s the issue of undoing the whoopie after loading it.

Edit: I couldn’t even get a 1/8” Amsteel whoopie to get tight enough. Not viable at all.

Still nothing? Man I need this to work.

I've been running my trucker's hitch daisy chain on treehopper steps this season and it works excellently. (see above)

Two ways I've found to terminate wrap: 1. put a loop of elastic cord on last daisy chain loop, wrap until you run out of daisy chain and then hook the elastic loop onto the step (this elastic loop doubles as a way to keep daisy chain wrapped on step while in dump pouch) or 2. after you've given it like 3 or so wrap around the step, then hook a daisy chain loop over the step.

The daisy chain never budges because your weight locks the wraps.

I plan to do a write up on this after the season with pics, etc.

I'm working on something with a squirrel step. Used beal jammy cord. Double wrap in a truckers hitch like the video posted but need to make some modification to the squirrel step to see if I can get it better.

Are you speaking of the automatic trucker’s hitch video or one of the others?

What type of modifications are you thinking?

I just stumbled on this (I'm Brooks Maxey) and I can say I have tested my method throughly with a couple different steps. all of them work very well. Yes you need a long bit of amsteel but for weight and size there's nothing smaller or lighter. These can fit into a fanny pack and get you 20' high. Can't really beat that.

Hey Brooks. Thanks for joining in here. That’s a slick method you came up with.

That video originally posted here can't be viewed now. Is there any other source you can point us to? I don't have facebook, but can watch publicly shared facebook videos.

I’m hoping that my negative Nancy attitude that a way to attach a squirrel step to a tree Without a buckle, tight enough to not kill me, Doesn’t exist, will someone to figure it out...

but, I firmly believe you ain’t getting a squirrel step tight enough to the tree without the ocb. I want to be wrong!

Edit - without any Buckle, I’m including that device in buckle category. But, that’s pretty slick. I’m listening....
Ive used the 1/4" amsteel for the squirrel steps along with my predator...got them super tight but thats with using the button on the platform post to pull tight...idk if it would work for attaching single steps to climb...never tried that

@Hardwood reaper. Would you be able to post the video that you had previously posted on Facebook? If not possible, could you please provide a few photos. I have been looking for a faster way to cinch steps. I've played with a few of the ideas found in this thread, but I'm always open to new ideas. Thanks.
