Amsteel whoopie sling vs daisy for platform

I am looking at amsteel options for hanging a platform and it seems the choice is between a Whoopie sling or a daisy chain. Wondering if anyone has experience with these in this application and what your preference is. For reference, I am looking at therealamsteelguy’s Etsy page. Thanks

@boyne bowhunter posted this video on the timber hitch. I tried it on my Apex tree steps. Seemed to work well. I am going to try it on my platform.
A truckers hitch works great but not so much fun when it's 25 out and you have gloves on.

Came here to post what’s already been posted.

Whoopies work great in free space where you have slack to adjust. Around a tree, a whoopie has the potential to get too snug rendering it near impossible to remove.

Appreciate the replies, very helpful. Seems like the biggest downside of the Whoopie is the possibility of over tightening it.

Between the trucker hitch/daisy and the Whoopie sling which is going to be more fiddly in the cold with gloves on?

I watched that video with the trucker hitch and like the looks of it. Does he finish it with a slip knot over the versa button?

Tried the truckers hitch. Haven’t tried the Whoopie. Still prefer just a cam buckle, just easier.

The daisy chain gives you 3 ways to attach. I used to do the trucker's hitch every time. Now, half the time, I just wrap the daisy chain hard between itself and the platform several times and then cam it over to lock the cords. This is just a tight rope mod, but the daisy chain seems to hold better than a usual single strand.

The third way is just as a regular daisy chain (wouldn't recommend unless you find the perfect loop or method).

I haven't used a whoopie sling on a platform, but have on cranford rope steps. No way I would use that on a platform, especially in cold weather.

I’m know I’m going off topic, but… I used the timber hitch on my platform all last season and really liked it. Just recently I built USA-rope mods for a set of climbing sticks and made an extra to try with my platform as well. I can’t say much about it yet as I’m still in the break in and fine tuning phase. But I figured I’d raise these two other good options.

I'll try it with daisy chains this year. With the extra strands and little brummel lock bumps, it seems to grab bark better so should hold better than a single strand of amsteel for the timber hitch.

I think the timber hitch and just wrapping the chain between chain and post several times is the same principle....camming force pinches chain between itself and post VS between itself and tree....tree has more friction than post and bigger surface area and so probably wins.

Another vote for the trucker's hitch, but using USA ropes as posted above ^^^. The larger loop of the prusik makes it so much easier to loop the amsteel back for the trucker's hitch, even in the cold, with gloves on. I use the USA's on my sticks and platforms (Predator XL and LWCG Ambush). I even used it on my XOP Evolution and Airraid this year, backed up with a single strap on the bottom for extra support.

The timber hitch is incredibly adjustable, more than you might think. The mechanics of the twist allow you to pull all the slack out of the line after twisting, camming down the platform locks the twists and the pressure against the tree. It’s elegant simplicity in action.

Thanks again. Starting to lean towards the USA rope

I modified mine with an aluminum cam-jam.... Works like a champ...... However, I do not use them too often since I one stick with a cam cleat...

I did the Daisy for 2 seasons, was great. Decided to try the "better" whoopie sling and it was a pain. Likely was tighter, but it took some doing to get done AND undone! BACK to the Daisy for me! MUCH MUCH better I think.
