This is hilarious. I use the “it’s safer than what I have” excuse whenever I want something new all the time. Your wife flipped it on you! Fantastic!
She doesn't put up much of a dispute when I want stuff and I am glad she expresses some concern but she definetely got me on that one haha

That excuse is my ace in the hole. I don’t always use it or even need to. But when there is that thing I just gotta have, that card will always get me by.

For the rest of this build what is your plan on adding the additional components ?

Well I struggled with what to do on attaching the belt because I noticed it doesn’t go the full length of the panel. Since it would be hidden I was thinking of stitching the edges of the belts to the saddle to hold it into place then come behind with the lineman’s loop/Molle loops with bar tacks.
Speaking of assembly I messed up on my top panel because the mrs was bugging me while I was trying to sew. I wanted to leave a 1” gap where the leg straps go so I could use one length of webbing and U-shape it over the main suspension instead of just box-x it to the suspension on the outside. I’ll probably

Before I do the Linemans I’ll add my adjuster straps and my leg loop straps I believe.

You see I made a game plan outline at the beginning and I’m not even using it lol. Im constantly thinking about the order or assembly on this thing.

what thickness have y’all used for your lineman’s loop covers? Are they able to be turn right side out after seeing them? Tips on that would be helpful.

Next you will need to apply your waist belt. You need to decide how far you go to the end of the panel for my setup I think it’s 3” from the ends but that’s up to you.
Next apply your connecting straps in the location you decide. I run those 6” apart so 3” off center.
Next I start to build my linemen’s loops and this takes time. Find your spacing mark everything and I use 2.25” of material to cover my linemen’s loops
Once your ready to install the linemen’s loops assembly slow down this takes patience to get it correct at least for me.
Pm me if you have any more questions and I will give you my phone number if you need to call me.

I didn't sew linemans loop covers and slip them on - so I didnt have to flip them inside out. The cordura is wrapped around the 1 inch webbing, sewn down the middle, then folded over the webbing, then the entire thing folded in half and sewn.

Here is a pic for reference

That was gonna be my second idea. I like the look of that too. Thanks!

I am actually debating on utilizing a different form of accessory gear loops as well as lineman's loops. I really liked the way the EVO had theres so I might see if I can replicate it. I'll see if I can get photos of what I might try and do.

Id be totally comfortable with someone else using/hunting out of the saddles Ive made.
- not interested in dealing with the aggravation that comes with retail/customers.

Same here! I thought she was talking about getting rid of every saddle I ever owned but she flipped it on me haha.
You walked right in to her trap

@Treehopper2 @jhunter13 what method do y’all use to attach the belt to the saddle? Just go around the edge and bar tack the end, knowing that your lineman’s molle loops will bar tack it again?64793CCC-BD4D-4AD4-B708-80A1B30B197C.jpeg

Yes that’s how I do it but keep in mind once your ready to sew on the linemen’s mollie loops at the end on each side where you stopped the belt be sure not to sew through that area

Once you get a system down you get much faster
I started this one this morning and worked on it on and off day along with making a back-band.
I cut all my materials first and sew up all the components first

That’s how I do mine too it’s much quicker to assemble if you cut everything and set up the strapping/frame then sew it into form from there

Yea I keep thinking about that and I might even right as sticky note so I don’t forget haha

thanks!

I fold my belt back and put a clip on it on the end I start on. On the other end I lay the belt flat out and put a clip where I need to avoid the belt. As I’m sewing the molle and I get to a clip I know that’s the point I have to deal with moving the belt. I’d suggest either trying to stop your belt right at one of the bar tacks for molle or directly between two bar tacks. It can get awkward trying to sew the bar tacks if the belt is folded over out of the way but the fold is right next to where you need the bar tack.

I got a little more done tonight. I’m going to rip the adjusters and redo them with the same webbing as the lineman’s loop. I played around with each and I think ill like the thicker stuff better. I think on the transformer he uses something in between but I’m not buying any other material for this build. If all my stuff comes in I hope to be done tomorrow.
