I know you can do it with a hand climber, but I’m curious if anyone climbs with just a tether/lineman’s and a Predator Platform.

Nope. Saw that thread. I’m talking about standing on the platform as you climb, line the lower part of a climbing stand. You’d have to fab up some foot loops or straps. Wondering if it would work without a rigid cable of some sort to keep the strap from falling down

You should have an answer shortly.

No way to make that work without some rigidity to the strap, rope, cable. It would have to keep its shape while unweight for you to be able to climb.

Why go all through that to recreate an LWHC??? Just curious......

Wow. I never thought of that. What a great idea. Could fab cable hooks/loops on top standoff and boot straps for climbing. Then when you get to hunt height, install versa strap or cam cleat. Or just leave steel cable on and cam over one final time to hunt.

The only problem with steel cable is tree climbs. But if you are hanging from your tether, you could unhook cable and rehook above the climb. Man, this has got my brain juices flowing.

Anybody make progress on this concept recently? Picking it up and don't want to duplicate efforts. Will circle back with my results..

Yep i onestick with my predator... i put double step aiders on it and a ubolt fastener to help with side pressure kickouts while climbing.. I do use the pull strap and not a daisy chain which helps keep it tight to the tree... thing works like a charm... no kickouts and locks in great... i really like climbing with my predator.

I also keep two rope aiders in my linesman pouch for emergency no sticking or if i want to be really quiet... climbing with just rope aiders works but takes a lil practice to get used to..

How did this method work for you last

Hey Bud, looks like my first message got chopped off at the end. Just in case you didn’t see it, I was wondering if the Predator method worked for you last year and if you plan to repeat thus year. Are you modifying anything? Appreciate the information. - “Bobby"

What step did you use on the top of the platform? And where did you get the u bolt or did you make it yourself?

Got the double step from Dan, slap it in front of the post and use the same bolt and hole as the standoff. The ubolt fastener I believe i found at Home Depot. It’s a square ubolt and angled bracket that I cut teeth into with a cutting disc. It bites into the tree like a second stand off while climbing and still allows you to cam the platform down tight when you need to. My only gripe is the button..... hard to take the straps on and off for climbing and going around limbs. If someone figures out something better would be awesome, but the platform blocks the button

Also the double step is good for attaching aiders cuz as you step on aider it sets the whole thing like a stick.
