Anyone Shoot 600+ Arrow Weight?

I met a guy at a traditional only draw it hunt shooting near the same rig with a different riser.

Those limbs are smooth as butter but almost draws like a compound with a valley. Really threw me off the first time I pulled it back.
That's exactly why I bought them.
As soon as I shot them at the indoor range of 3 Rivers Archery, I turned to the salesman, smiled and said, "Take my money." :)

I’m shooting about 800 grains out of my Hoyt Defiant 75 lb. Sirius Apollo 250 cut to 28 5/8, Ethics insert/outsert with 265 gr Meathead single bevels. I was surprised at how little it dropped from my previous 525 gr arrow at 20 yards. It wasn’t until about 25 yards that the drop started to increase but not nearly as much as expected. Very effective out to 40+ yards which is the outer limit for me anyway when hunting deer. It took some time to tune, including a lot of bareshaft tuning. But once I got it dialed in it was shooting lasers. Added benefit was a much quieter shot. I think people overestimate the drop associated with a heavier arrow.

Not sure what mine weigh but it's 600gr-ish. I just built another set so I should weigh both. Been crushing bone the last 2 bucks. similar story to "Exodus's". My processor thought I shot him w/ a rifle.

I have done 630 the last few years With single bevel 200 grain Cutthroats launched from a 65 lb Hoyt CD34. Lethality has been outstanding with some of my shortest blood trails yet. Suppose it is the system, though I give most of the lethality credit to the scary sharp thing on the tip of the arrow.

Thinking on a lighter 550ish grain setup for the coming season at least for a western spot & stalk set-up.

For my saddle hunting scenario I see no down side to the 630 grain TAW set up.
