anywhere to buy dynamic climbing rope by the foot?

I was just on their web page look up dynamic rope by the Foot and you'll find it
Havent found a single climbing rope on their website thats got anywhere near the 20 to 30 percent elongation dynamic climbing ropes have. Again, can you link? Why did you mention predator?

Ok, let's all calm down :) It's just rope. I am all for being accurate though. I'd hate for someone to think XYZ rope is static or dynamic or spaghetti noodles and get that wrong. I'm not sure what the minimum elongation is to be considered dynamic, but most climbing ropes that are explicitly dynamic are around 30%.

Edit: I did search Wesspur (their search function is atrocious) and clicked on like 6 ropes with the key word "dynamic" causing a search hit. I didn't find one with over like 5% elongation.

That's what a lot of saddlehunters use for bridges and tethers. I use it . I not a rock climber I saddle hunter
You ask about who had dynamic rope by the Foot and that's who I said had it. I've been saddlehunter along time and I used most of the saddles over the years . I use Areohunter saddles and I am very comfortable with Samson Predator rope. Areohunter witch is a part of New Tribe witch makes arborist equipment and Wesspur handle all kind of climbing equipment and ropes. I just answered a question on where to buy dynamic rope by the Foot I am done with this conversation.

Sounds good. Thanks.

I am pretty sure around 10% is the maximum stretch with whatever weight they test.

When I climb and feel 2 feet of stretch on 20 feet of rope it is static elongation. If you hit the dynamic elongation your rope is destroyed for climbing. You too probably.

Huh...I'll have to read all that and then compare to the rope static elongations for known dynamic ropes. Some ropes are saying 2% static elongation, which seems they are bragging about how static they are! It would be good to figure out a range so you can look at those numbers and then put in a classification.

I saw some Youtube videos by professional climbing arborists where they say they like a slightly dynamic rope. They say they can feel it in their bodies after many days of climbing. Kevin Bingham, the inventor of the Rope Wrench, is one.

Think about mono fishing line. When you hook a large fish a good ways from the boat the lines long enough such that the elongation for that given length allows the fish to stretch out and be played out by that stretch in the mono. If you don’t play out the fish before reeling him close to the boat he could make a hard swim for it and break your line when he is real close (short line). The reason being is that at that short length the percentage of elongation doesn’t give you enough stretch. I think with this general idea one could guesstimate that you wouldnt benefit greatly from a short dynamic tether.

Here’s a quick test you could do with fishing line as well. Wearing leather gloves, Cut A short piece of 10 to 15 pound test line, wrap it around your hands then pool until it breaks. Try to see how far you had to stretch the line before it breaks. Next tie some fishing line to a post or tree and stretch out about 10 yards. Grab the fishing line and begin to walk back. See how far you have to go back before the line breaks. Compare the two length of lines breaking.

If you want to reduce the fall forces I’d look into one of the shock absorbing links you can add to your system.

REI sells rope by the foot in store. Since they cater to rock climbing I think you’d have a decent chance at getting dynamic rope there.

I have 40ft of sterling duetto dynamic 8.4mm rope from REI it's 31.6 dynamic and 11 static Will it work with mad rock safeguard for one stick climbing and repelling? Thanks

I use Edelweiss Sella rope which is 8.5mm. I think it is a half rope like the Sterling Duetto. I think the half and twin ropes are supposed to be used in pairs but I am not really sure. 5400 lbs breaking seems to be required for arborist rope. Dynamic rope never seems to report a breaking strength and I don't know why. I used 8.0mm dynamic rope for a while and read somewhere the breaking strength was around 2200 lbs. I felt a little uneasy using it but never had any problem with the Safeguard using it. I feel much better on the 8.5mm rope which a few users have described as being more like 8.9mm rope. I don't think the breaking strength is 5400 lbs but it should be closer than the 8.0mm. That is about all I can say. It is your choice what rope to use.

I did a one sticking video a couple days ago where I used the Sella rope.

8.0mm, 8.5mm, 9.0mm Tails 10.5mm, 11.4mm

I just searched and found this where they talk about the Duetto rope.

Do you think the 8.4 dynamic rope will work? I'm only 140wt and would like to try one stick climbing and repelling and see if I like it or not my concern was the dynamic part!

The dynamic part will absolutely work. I am more concerned with going too skinny because of a lower breaking strength. I feel very secure on my 8.5mm and have climbed at least 20 times using it. I weigh about 180.
