Are saddle hunters automatically DIY kayakers?

I was there '98-'00. Scuba diving was great and the surfing was fun except right after a typhoon. I paddled out right after one once and by the time I got through the breakwater, I was a mile closer to Naha.
Jeez, yeah those currents get crazy sometimes even without hurricanes

I tried paddling out through the bowls and it didn't work too well. On the plus side, there was a sidewalk so I didn't have to walk barefoot all the way back to my car.

The real question I have tho is can you and a deer fit on it?
I haven’t had the chance to find out yet. I’m under 2 hundo and we have small deer here but I was thinking it might be a lil sporty.
If you hunt with @Nutterbuster or if you hunt in Florida, you can absolutely fit your deer pretty much anywhere  I say this as someone who has a coonhound larger than most of the local deer population lol

SC deer for sure. My 80lb lab rode mine with me a lot while duck hunting. He’s behind me in that first picture I posted above. Took a little to get him to understand that he a) was more nimble than I and b) didn’t give a crap whether he got wet and I did

The inside of both of those kayaks are “dry” storage so you could quarter or debone (my method) and carry several deer out with you.

I’ve often wondered how one of those pull behind sleds would do if I were to tie it behind my kayak and pull a deer or small hog with it. I wonder what it’s floating load capacity would be

I’ve got one and never verified an exact number, but I’m sure it would tote a deer. The issue is getting the deer loaded correctly so that it’s balanced.

I’ve hauled decoys in mine and it did fine. Tried the dog, but he moves too damn much, lol

Been a part time saddle hunter for a few years and used to think this was the most DIY group I have ever seen.... Then I bought a kayak.. Pretty sure every Kayak fisherman out there is a budding saddle hunter at heart!! All joking aside how many of y'all are DIY Kayakers also?? The 2 really seam to be a similar mindset and a similar DIY skillset

How do you get your kayak up the tree?

Absolutely! If it's a small deer/hog gut it and throw it on there. If it's a big ole critter, leave it be and (no joke) plug the hole and float it out.

I’ve heard of folks strapping a live vest to the critter and towing them out…hope to try this soon!

Alright, I’m new to the kayak game, but my yaks are not…but for free, I ain’t complaining! I do have the lids for the dry storage. How do I make these more hunting/fishing friendly? Or try to sell them and get a sit on top?

I personally like sit on tops for their stability. However sit insides like these handle better and paddle faster but they are less stable.
