Currently use a sit/drag I modified by sewing webbing to and works ok but wants to fold up on me. Looking for something better and would like to get some opinions.

Not sure if you are looking for something DIY or commercially available or a combo. Any of the saddle companies backbands will do the trick. Some are padded and some are not. The one I use isn’t padded and I don’t have any issues with it. Could use a foot hammock off of Amazon but you would have to watch the length to make sure it goes all the way around your back. Sounds like you have sewing skills available so you could buy a Back Support Belt from Harbor Freight for $10 and mod that. Or, just keep your eye on he classifieds and pick a used one up for around $20-25. Good Luck!

If u want packability please ignore...if u want a back band that offers support like nothing else offered by a saddle related manufacturer, that is kinda a pain to pack in, then these are an easy option, and imo, best option available currently .....the local store around me sells them for 15 bucks. It's certainly not as bougie as the one above but if I need a little quick relief on an all-day hunt I just rig my second tether/LB to do the job. It's such a simple thing, make it do double duty. Carrying strap for gear, deer drag, something. Dedicated back band seems like such a waste of space for me, but I rarely use one.

You're on your way to a JX3!

I use a Tethrd backband, but I have had that one of those sitting on my Amazon hunting list for a couple of years. I have a feeling it would be well worth the effort for those few all day sits. I would think you could just wear it in almost like shown in the pic or over your pack with it cinched down in front of your waist/chest.

Yep....like a turtle shell. Its not the best but it's not the worst....I'm thinking about sewing in a couple magnets on my vest and corresponding magnets on the back support to hold it but in all honesty once it's in turtle shell mode it's not that bad and sometimes forget that it's there

I forgot it on 1 hunt in 3 seasons since started using it and I was really upset when I realized I left it at the truck. Requirement for me

The Latitude is very comfortable….and covers more of the back than some. I go between it and the smaller Tethrd recliner.

If you find a Hawk brand, jump on it. I’m gonna sell my Hawk saddle but keep the back band. It’s pretty wide, and the straps tighten and loosen easy with 1 hand.

I’ve been using an aerohunter backband and love it. I just ordered another one from Wood Hunting Saddles, he makes great gear.

Just gonna throw this out to backband makers.....I don't think having adjustments on both sides is worth it, and I think strong cord with a prusik or other hitch (blakes, etc) would be better for adjustment than the thin webbing and plastic triglides that could possibly break. Make the cord so that the user can replace. If anything happens with those triglides, then you'd have to sew it.....but I'd probably just cut the triglide off and use the webbing loops left behind to do the cord and hitch thing above.

I thought the dryad was gonna be the answer I was looking for but was sadly disappointed...I want something with a little shape/rigidity. If the thing that I have had the ability to pack down a little smaller it would be perfect.....like those spring steel ground blinds.. twist and fold and it shrinks down small and untwist and it pops open. If this thing did that it would be soooo sweet

Anything can be used really. Heck a rifle sling is pretty easy to come by too. Or just go to the junkyard, cut some seatbelt webbing. Bunch of straps from backpacks or sling bag can be used too, go to a local GoodWill and be creative since it seem like you can sew some. Or water knot work find too if a little bulky.

Thanks for all the suggestions. The sit/drag has been good, weighs next to nothing and takes little to no room in my pack but just bunches up too much. Probably going the commercially made route or wait until one shows up in classifieds.
