Hi I’m getting back into saddle hunting and was wondering what is the best platform when it comes to durability? I’m bigger 6’5” around 260 with 14 boots. Was looking at the predator xl and the trophy line. Is there still failures with the predator platforms?

I’m 6’3” and weigh 235 I also wear 14’s… the two best platforms I’ve used (and I’ve used pretty much every one out) would be the fix by lone wolf custom gear and the brand new Onyx from Trophyline.

I have been using a Chippewa Wedge Loc Falcon for several years now for my version of srt climbing. It is not very popular but the attachment to the tree is the least fiddle factor in my opinion plus you can preset the tree straps on your chosen trees. I am not a fan of camming platforms but to each their own.

I am 6-4 250lbs wear size 13-14 depending on boot.

LWCG fix hands down best platform I have tried. I have a few…. I am selling 1. keeping 1. No need for a backup.

Fix is the most solid platform I have found. The predators are decent platforms but I don’t think they handle side pressure well. The new die cast ones flex. Could feel a little unnerving at our size considering they are cast and shouldn’t flex…:tearsofjoy:

Small platform, packable: predator
Small platform, rock solid: EDP
Small platform, comfort: mini seeker
Large platform, rock solid: Mission
Hybrid: LWCG .5

Love the Cruzr seeker (regular size). Might not be the most compact but solid and plenty of room for boots.

Ok thanks for the replies the lone wolf is a little more than I wanted to spend though but maybe I’ll save up for it

Loving the angled platform?

I think for the size and packability it’s hard to beat the Predator. It’s all subjective though. The EDP is great too, just a little bulkier compared to the Predator.

The predator is the only platform I’ve ever used,
So I have no comparison. But I do like it’s size,
Packability and ease of use. I broke mine in the middle of the rut this past season. To their great credit, I contacted tethrd and despite
My warranty being long expired they had a brand new one on my doorstep 3 days after it broke.

6'3" 250ish, size 14. I put a predator XL on the tree right next to the mission. Sold the predator the next day. Haven't looked back!
Trophyline Mission hands down all day long!!!

I was dead set on a predator until I looked up some reviews about them breaking now I’m second guessing it. I’m willing to sacrifice some weight and compact ability for strength and durability

I believe those issues have been addressed. But you can’t go wrong with a Trophyline platform. You’d probably like the Mission at your size. I had one and it was solid, just a little big for me.

Just to add to the Mission. How many predators do you see in the classifieds every week??? Now, how many missions? People love their missions.

Ok thanks I’m new on here but have you tried the new onyx by trophy line? I’m debating between that and the mission.

How many predators were sold compared to missions?

You can get a small treestand the same weight as the mission.

I don’t like how trophyline is cheaping out and not finishing their platforms anymore. My Onyx was covered with white corrosion when I pulled it out of the box. That shouldn’t be.

The failure in the Predator have been addressed so you shouldn't worry about it if you are buying new. The Mission is pretty heavy coming in at 5.4 lbs. But the one time I got to try it, it was very solid and felt like it was part of the tree.

I guess depending on how you plan to carry all your gear. I say go Mission or my personal favorite the LWCG Ambush if you want most room possible.
