Best, quietest, rain gear , that won’t break the bank?

Anybody try Frogg Toggs. Some of the guys that play golf swear by them.
I like the idea of putting something over rain gear to keep them quiet.

You’d be better off with the cabelas space rain set I recommended early in my opinion. I had frogs togs for several seasons and was unimpressed. Always left you feeling wet, pretty crunkly sounding, and didn’t fit great. They’re more expensive stuff may be a little better, but the regular camo frog togs i didn’t care for.

The best rain wear for the price is probably Marmot PreCip line

It isn't made to be quiet, but you can put something over it

I wouldn't get hung up on thinking all your clothing has to be from hunting brands or camo

Hiking brands are responsible for a lot of the innovations that hunting brands utilize and hiking brands are usually better per dollar (they have a larger market reach and also produce enough that the stuff goes on sale way more often)

Plus you can find used hiking gear a lot easier than you can find used hunting gear. I'm specifically thinking about backpacks here but applies to rain gear as well.

Has anyone tried Huntworth’s Winsted rain jacket?

Rivers West Stalker jacket and pants

None of it is whisper quiet, but the Rivers West Stalker line is the quietest fully waterproof midweight rain wear I've found. Granted, I haven't spent $800 on a set of Kuiu or First Lite for comparison. It is midweight in that it has a fleece exterior and a liner layer. There's no insulation though.
We had a very rainy fall and I usually just wear my GI Woodland Pattern Gore Tex ECWCS smock but it can be noisy n the deer woods. I saw a post by @tailgunner and saw he one he was using in the PNW, and I found one on Gritr.com for under a $100 on sale. It’s not completely quiet but it is way quieter than most.

1000002182.jpgthis one is verey similar in price and material.i thought they where à set,but i am happy so far with both the kings and habit rain gear.light weight ,packable, dry and semi quiet

I've been relatively pleased with my outdoor research foray set. Used (mainly the jacket over waterproof bibs) it for a very wet week in SE AK (coastal so not too much devils club bushwhacking, but some), and one soggy day hunt here in MD and so far so good. Not the quietest, but head and shoulders better than the frogg togg guide set I replaced for hiking around.

Sadly Gander Mountain Tech2O was the best I’ve ever found and it’s no more

I'll third this. I've had their silent suede jacket and pants for five seasons now and it keeps me dry even through some freak rainstorms.
I've had two sets of the Cabela's silent suede. Both lasted a couple of years with little use and then rain comes through. I might have to try putting dwr on the outer material to aid it.

I replaced it with a Forloh set and couldn't be happier. Not as quiet but it's been waterproof for the last several years. I just have to remember to close the pit zips.

Just ordered this jacket.

From the pics and reviews it seems like it might be a little shorter than I like but it’s a gore Tex rain jacket with pit zips for $130 after a 15%off coupon. Plus they have free shipping and returns so I figure it’s worth looking at.
The maybe not so good: Not trying to bust your bubble but would like to give you some realistic expectations. In my experience, single layer goretex is barely waterproof for more than a short duration in light to medium rain. So don’t be surprised if you get some dampness if sitting for hours in the rain. That said I would be surprised if this isn’t a fair bit better than the cabelas space suit. If you want true water proof for hours from a goretex jacket you need to get Into the 2-3 layer goretex. It’s not a hard and fast rule but when leaning heavily on DWR treatments it’s part of what you deal with.

The good: There are some even more expensive jackets that don’t include pit zips (wild) so that is a nice feature at that price. If it does better than I expect then that is be fair deal.

Please stand out in the next rain storm for 2+ hours and report back! Wait, I already have an expensive rain jacket. As you were.

Additional side bar: one problem with my rain jacket is that I’m scared to wear it through the woods for fear of ripping and tearing it on the plethora of privet, thorns, and greenbriar. I bought one jacket that I use for all of my camping, hunting, hiking, skiing, etc. and I want it to last so I end up using my cabelas stuff and still being super careful not to rip it either. Both pack down extremely small which is great. The KUIU Yukon jacket I tried is tough and can handle thorns and brush as well as rain but is heavier, louder, and doesn’t pack down well at all.

I’ve found that rain gear will never be 100% water proof bc if it is you wouldn’t be breathing through so it has to be a little breathable and for years I was on this journey, now I don’t hunt a lot in the rain but being in LA you will catch rain during the season it’s just a fact of the matter so specifically seeking out expensive rain gear wasn’t a must but by happenstance when I got my Sitka gear their woven gortex “science” lol is the best I’ve found as far as quiet and water resistant but it may break the bank. But from what I’ve found as someone else said if you want quiet and waterproof it’s going to cost. But with all that said if I sat in a rainstorm I’d still get wet. For reference I have wet weather top and bottoms that were issued to me and I’ve used them in the field and stayed dry pretty well but I’ve found also a few times with alot of rain or constant wetness it will soak through and that stuff is basically a tarp we’re wearing. So 100% waterproof I believe isn’t a thing as far as clothing, some are just better than others at extending that time it takes for it to soak through.

All of my GameHide apparel is hella waterproof and also very quiet.
My RedHead bibs are brand new but I discovered they’re also very waterproof and quiet.
Neither GameHide nor RedHead will put too big of a dent in your piggy bank.

Water proof breathable is an oxy moron.air goes through water goes through.only plastic is water proof.still need a coat under it it will condensate...sitka gear isnt any dryer for the money and the gortex can crack. Plus nothing is breathable soaked under water.but some people realy think under armor is spécial spandex.

I’m usually happy with hunting rain gear until I sit or kneel, then I'm soaked and hate everything…
