I’ve left some in for a good part of the season before and they were hard to get out. I guess the tree wasn’t dormant when I drilled it.
@redsquirrel says you'll have to redrill all of them.I'm taking mine out and carrying a set of bolts in with me. I may find that to be a mistake later if I have to redrill every thing on my first hunt. This is my first year using bolts on presets.

That's my thoughts as well. He's probably right. I just don't want to buy a ton of bolts. Hopefully they'll be easy to redrill with the EZ Kut drill.

You're in Wisconsin right? I would expect them to be closed up by fall. I've been using bolts in certain spots for 3 or 4 years now. I am only allowed access there starting 2 weeks before the season. Any holes I drill starting from then through the season are closed up by the next season.I'm taking mine out and carrying a set of bolts in with me. I haven't redrilled those with the hand drill, but I'm sure they will be easier. If I redrill the same holes with the battery powered drill it is much quicker and easier than setting a new tree. That's my thoughts as well.

M always blown away how much water comes out of them. Sometimes it squirts out when I put the bolts in. The holes fill up with water in seconds.

Makes sense.
Can anyone post a link to the hand drill you’re using with the EZ Cut bit? I’d like to add that tool to my pack.

eBay, Home Depot, tractor supply
I’ve never predrilled trees early in the year. Since most growth in trees occurs in spring & early summer, my thought has always been to wait till summer is under way to drill. If one pre scouts their target trees they can simply mark them in some way and then come back, drill and trim shooting lanes at the same time. In this way one does not really need to approach their spots except to hunt. If I’m redrilling a tree from last season I usually just drill near the old holes because I’ve found drilling the same ones result in a little “ mushiness” and the bolts seem to enlarge the hole when stepped on. I’m sure it probably will vary depending on tree type but that’s what I’ve run into here in my swamp. This is kind of what a local legend has done for many years and since he has around 1,000 deer (many with a bow) to his credit (he donates to food banks), I just imitate some of his tactics. There’s many ways to skin a cat and as long as it gets skint, that’s really what matters.
Warren is indeed a legend, but I was referring to another that lives not far from me, Dr. Bob Sheppard, a cardiologist, author, and all around good guy. He got me hanging from straps and a board about 30 years ago.If you’re referring to warren Womack, he is a member here. His woodpecker video is what convinced me to use bolts.

I listened to an awesome pod cast that Dr. Bob Sheppard did with "Down South Hunting Podcast". He probably has as much and maybe more experience bowhunting whitetail deer than any man alive. Very impressive.
