Bored at Work...

i am thinking that will pack up and be faster than the tree squeeze

Not the best picture but you can see its just a lineman belt with accessory cord tied with a blakes hitch on one side, the other side should be a quick link, in using a carabiner to demo. I'm probably going add something to tend the Blake's hitch.

That’s genius! I will just use a linemans belt but if I wanted a squeeze system, that would be it!

Ok; so Your hitch it tied too the carabiner which is against the knot blocking the carabiner. Gotcha. Have you tested that at ground level yet?

I've tested it a bunch, started using it at the end of last season. I rarely used the lineman belt because I'm either using SRT or XOP hand climber. I was using this with my ancient spurs. Since I suck at climbing with spurs the tree squeeze is a must for me, unfortunately I have tested it lol, couple gaff slips.

I’m always climbing public land so never used spurs. Looks like a genius idea. Question from a guy who doesn’t know the issues with climbing using spurs. Could you use a tether instead of a lineman’s belt it’s always a consistent distance away from the tree and if you slip it’s going to catch the fall. Kinda like the one stick climbing method or just using aiders to climb.

A linesman belt is used for positioning. You could use a main tether for climb as well. However, you actually should use both in conjunction.

I have considered it for the coming season, and even drew the following:

The issue that came up, is that with a fixed bridge, like in the drawing, you end up being a fixed distance from the tree. There would be some adjustability through the lineman’s belt, but very limited.

An adjustable bridge would work better, but add more weight and components.

Just my two cents.

This looks great!

Anyone ever taken a fall on this? I'm going to start testing this setup.

What I like about this is it doesn't look any more complicated to undo to go around limbs I use my tether to tie in to climb around limbs. The system would require only on doing one Carabiner just like when using only the lineman's

G2s got it. No extra ropes, just around the tree w/ the LB in an X. It wouldn,t slip at all in the event of a fall. Great Idea.

This is what I put together after watching some of the tree squeeze videos ,have fitted at base of a tree, but have not climbed with it yet. I made for use with my lineman's safety . Used two rappel rings and a doubled section of climbing rope ,the rope is stiched together about every 3" by hand. Will try to get more pictures later.. Also like the idea of increased safety.

Thats very similar to a real tree squeeze.

you wrap your lineman belt around the tree coming in front of the tree first. When you come around the back side of the tree and clip into your opposite lineman loop, it makes an "X" in front of you. @flinginairos was the first to come up with the idea here so I dubbed it the "FlinginX".

Make sense?
Awesome idea. I'm afraid my head size to leg length ratio would insure a pretty fast 180 degree flip. I'm top heavy.
