I’ve shot a multi pin sight my whole life, but when I switched to the Bowtech my pins were pretty close together and I have an astigmatism, so in lower light conditions, the pins would all just blur together, thus I switched to a single. I can leave my sight in the same position out to about 30 yards before having to adjust it, and I don’t really take a lot of shots past that anyway. I hunted with the setup for the first time last year and harvested one deer and really liked it.
A hunting buddy talked me into buying a single pin sight, a few years ago and it has been the best improvement to my shooting.
My concentration is greatly improved due to focusing on a single pin. Plus, I'm not second guessing myself on the yardage, after I've come to full draw.
I shoot the yardage with a range finder, adjust my pin accordingly and make the shot.
I've set my single pin at 20 yards, then shot it at 25 and 30 yards, to see where it hits. This is in case I get caught in a situation that I don't have time to adjust the sight, but I still have a clear shot. At 30 yards I hold the sight pin over the intended point of impact, at half the distance from the pin head to the top of the level. The red line is my half way mark. At 25 yards, I have the sight pin sitting on the intended point of impact and it works out great for both yardages. Kinda like "gap shooting", but with a compound.
