Decided to rebuild a one sticking rig after moving away from it last season.

API stick cut down to 22 inches with a 20 inch step. TurboWay cam cleat (rated the same as a harken, but half the price!) Slanted scout. Two step aider from the Amsteel guy. Sterling HTP 9mm (in spec with the cam cleat).

I girth hitched the rope with 2 overhand safeties and looped it over the bolt.

Everything but the stick, rope and cleat is second hand. So it’s budget friendly!

It looks nice. How much does it weigh? It looks pretty light.

Just weighed it. 4.4 lbs. I’m gonna go with the fact that my stick is 2 feet long and I have actual rope instead of Amsteel as the culprit. Still, though. That puts me at about 6 lbs for my climbing method and platform if I use this stick coupled with my ROS.

Finished product with vet tape for silencing and camo and I colored the Amsteel black with a sharpie because I hated the mint chocolate chip ice cream look.

Pretty much the same exact idea im trying to do with a LW full size stick. Gonna cut it down to 17''-20'' put a scout and double step and aider, stealth strip and call it a day..... Would love to find the scout and double step second hand. Awesome job brotha!!

I have a couple double steps I’d let go of. At least one for the bottom of your stick if you want it shoot me a PM.

How tall are you? Do you see a benefits with 2 steps aider? I read that alot of people that 1 sticks dont usually even use the top step because eveything is limited to how high you can hang the sticks and how far back down you can reach to pull stick up. The way you are planning to climb. Is there any "2 steps up/1 step back" process?

I’m 6’. I do like the two step aider personally. I don’t use the top step at all, to be honest, until I’m at hunting height.

You’re right regarding the limitations.

No 2 up 1 down here. I set my stick, set tether. Climb, advance tether, hang. Remove stick, set stick, climb, advance tether, hang. Repeat.

I can somewhat visualized your process. Do you attach ropes to the sticks to pull it up or just by the platform since you're standing on the bottom step? Do you set your stick beside you or up the middle?

I would gain a few oz’s of weight over using amsteel for anything any day.

I just reach down and grab the platform. Which is the nice part of my stick being longer than most folks who one stick. I tend to run my stick up the middle and pin it to the tree with my tether and then attach my rope to my cam cleat. I will typically just push out from the tree with my feet and then kinda squat down to pin my stick with my own weight.

Ahh....to be young again. I hope I can do this after the last few years of desk sitting and sitting in climber.

Final mod.

I popped my top cap off and girth hitched an Amsteel continuous loop on that with fuel line and tape to keep it stiff as a pull up loop.
