Those are awesome! Do you know what size cleat and diameter rope? Thanks

I do love my Beast Sticks and I modded them with 5/16 Amsteel.
Souping these DIY sticks up this year with DanO’s angled steps and Gen 2 lighter brackets. Also spacing the step and bracket so I can stack straight.

I recieved the standard versa straps today and just put them on and off the versa button in the house...seems much easier than the minis so far...i will find out more when i try one sticking with them.. also recieved the rope for cam cleat mod today. I wont get around to that until next week as i am going out of town.

Any update for the cam cleat on a beast stick?

Nothing yet....hunting season sprung upon me..

Havent decided as to whether or not the integrity of the stick will compromised and if so how much....adding another hole to a stick full of holes may just fold the thing over

I used my Beast sticks with the versa strap last night on opening day. They worked very well. The strap slipped over the button smoother than expected. I have the older version of the versa straps.

I tried with the minis.... it sucked.... the normal one may work better. I also tried as a rope mod.... didn't like that really earlier... was faster with the buckle

Couldn’t take it any longer. I ordered harken micro cleat, some #8-32 x 1.5” chrome plated stainless pan head screws, and some 18-8 SS flange nuts. I used the versa button hole for the bottom screw then centered the cleat marked the hole with drill bit and drilled second hole. The hole process from opening the packages, drilling the hole, tightening screws, eating dinner, splicing amsteel and testing took less than 20 minutes. Probably the easiest mod I’ve done. The cleat isn’t rated for that much working load but in theory it’s not taking all the load most of it will be transferred to the stick. I’m 220 lbs and I jumped on it repeatedly with no signs of give. Ordering 3 more to complete the stack.

I thought Amsteel on cam cleats was a no-no... maybe I’m wrong but I’d look into that a bit

Didn’t know that will look into it. I just have piles of this stuff sitting around.

I hear ya, maybe it’s ok, but didn’t want you taking a fall at some point because of it

I liked the versa straps but in the dark and cold they are a little tricky to take off. I moved to 7/64 Amsteel daisy chain, very easy to use and pack.

I have the cam cleat....was going to do it at end of season.....i was also afraid of making the stick break or bend with too many holes when you add another

It was literally 1 - 7/64” hole. Can’t imagine that making a difference.

The overall dimensions. I wanted to make sure it still stacked. My thoughts are modified 1 stick climbing. Take my normal three sticks and use the top stick as my extra climber as needed or do the same with two sticks. I get about 8’ high off of one stick with a 5 step Aider then go from there as needed. I am going to measure the spacing and see if a bigger cleat will work for the others but for now this seams to be working.

I think if I were going to do it, I would look into a plate and backing plate to mount the Harken to that would also line up with the existing holes in the Beast stick for mounting.

Got my 6mil oplux in today harken 150 cam cleat en route. Cant wait to try this out. I ordered 30 ft oplux for my rappel tether. Worried I didnt get it long enough. Gonna take up to rei to splice a loop on end. Never done that before and unsure of trusting my skills.

If I wanted to use a carabiner on my tether girth hitch is there one that would handle side load better than others?

I wouldn’t use any aluminum carabiner in a side load situation. So, either steel (heavy) or a Petzl-type aluminum triangle (slightly slower to open/close).
I got this from DanO for that purpose.
