Cautionary tale...truth

Also, the autoblock was a foot below the 8 and the 8 was on my bridge. The problem was all incompatibility of the two cords and lack of knowledge and testing on my part. I have a mad rock lifeguard on the way.

Thanks for sharing details, it’s easy to replicate std practices & miss a detail. Again glad you made it out of the woods safe!

I’m dumb on repelling. That’s why I started the Repelling 101 Thread a while back. What exactly was the mistake? Were you using the wrong gear or was it technique related like when you flipped?

I’m so glad to hear your going to be okay. That must have been terrifying. Thanks for sharing. I just want to make sure I soak up all the lessons.
Ditto!!!

Glad you are alive and praying for a fast recovery dude!

Thanks for being humble enough to share. Not easy admitting our mistakes sometimes. Mistakes are how we learn. I'm just glad you weren't more seriously injured. Just curious, has this experience turned you sour on rappelling in the future assuming (and hoping) you make a full recovery from your injuries?

Sorry I didn't see the part about the mad rock lifegaurd in your last post. Good for you. Get back in the "saddle" again. Sorry for that too.

Thanks for sharing the lessons learned. Sounds terrifying. Really glad you were able to get BIL out to you

Thanks for sharing. Don't feel stupid...accidents happen, unfortunately. You may help someone else to not repeat the same mistake, that's what's important. Glad you're alright and it wasn't even worse...sounds terrible nonetheless. Heal up quick!

Dang that's a crazy story and great reminder. Glad you're okay and in recovery! I had a little trip up at the end of the season with WE steps and running a knaider swaider, step wasnt cammed tight enough and as I hooked in the knaider the step kicked sideways and so did I. Thankfully it was the last step before the ground and I learned that a linemans belt does in fact work and held me just below the step even though I was parallel with the ground. Always practice with your equipment how you hunt, inspect your gear, be confident in your equipment and always test at ground level.

Praying you'll be fully recovered for this season and that your story will help safety awareness to this quickly growing hunting method.

I hope you're healing. I know what your going through I had a burst fracture in my back and a shattered pelvic on my right side and a broken pelvic on the left side. I was injured at work it took along time to heal. That was almost 4 years ago and I still have a lot of pain. But you learn to live with it. Good luck.
